Business Context

● There is a large gap between rural and urban development in India which has
caused a huge income disparity & has become an issue in the way to achieve
inclusive growth.

● The only solution to this problem is to develop entrepreneurial activities in the

rural sector. Entrepreneurship will also help in solving the unemployment issues
prevailing within rural India.

● Recently, there has been a growth in the population taking interest in rural
entrepreneurship. This has triggered due to massive development in the rural
geographies in terms of infrastructure, connectivity, growing disposable incomes
of rural households and favourable govt schemes and developments.
Secondary Research

Based on certain academic publications and journals related to rural entrepreneurship, we came across the
following

● The factors which affect businesses in rural setup like labor, government schemes, market for the products,
education, mindset of the community.
● The problems faced by rural entrepreneurs are categorised as
1) Problems at time of setting the business- lack of raw materials, availability of finance, socio-cultural difference
2) Marketing problems- unfavourable market, lack of infrastructure facilities, promotion problems
3) Other problems- reserve attitude of people and society, government rules and regulations, lack of working
capital etc.
● Schemes implemented by government to promote entrepreneurship (SFURTI, CLCSS, ASPIRE).
● Under the CGTMSE scheme, MSME units can avail collateral free loans through banks and financial
institutions. Similarly under the CLCSS scheme aims at providing technological upgradation by providing 15%
capital subsidy. CLCSS has more than 62000 MSME beneficiaries till march 2019.
● Major sectors : Farming, Handlooms, Livestock, etc.
