Nature vs Nurture in personal

development
Introduction

 Nature versus nurture refers to the debate in psychology over whether a person's inborn
qualities and behaviours are created by their environment or whether persons are born
with them.
 Nature refers to genetic elements such as personality qualities, physical traits among
others.
 Nurture refers to environmental aspects such as social relationships , how children are
raised, their environment, childhood experiences among others (Immordino-Yang,
Darling-Hammond, & Krone, 2019).
Effect of nature and nurture on personal
development

 Nurture in my opinion has more influence on personal development than nature.

 Most researchers have found that parenting has a more substantial impact on a child's
development and perception of the world.
 When it comes to conducting and character inheritance, nurture has a greater impact on
personal development than nature.
 Although external factors other than nurturing might influence the process, nurturing has
a significant and positive impact on human development.
Continuation

 Nurture impacts a person's early development since people prefer to imitate the habits and
personalities of those who care for them.
 Nurture has influenced over 60% of people's current habits and characteristics (Generali
et al., 2018).
 This demonstrates how the nurture factor has a positive impact on personal development.
Theories

 Vygotsky sociocultural theory supports the academic argument by emphasizing social

factors affecting cognitive development.
 The theory supports that everyone learns from their culture, environment, and social
interactions.
 He discusses some of his views, such as the zone of proximal development, with a more
knowledgeable companion.
 These variables add together to support his theory that children learn their conduct
(Daneshfar & Moharami, 2018).
Theories continuation

 Piaget's theory of cognitive development suggests that children develop through four
stages of mental development.
 Learning results from a combination of assimilation and accommodation.
 According to Piaget, children are born with a fundamental mental structure (heredity and
development), on which all subsequent knowledge and learning are based (Babakr,
Mohamedamin, & Kakamad, 2019).
 Piaget argues that children progress through four stages that alter their world perceptions.
Conclusion

 Social situations have impact children's cognitive development.

 According to Vygotsky, cultural tools, such as counting systems and language,
significantly impact cognitive development.
 While research shows that nature has a greater impact on personal growth, nurture, in my
opinion, has more impact on personal development.
