Systems Engineering

What is engineering?

Engineering is the discipline that uses a set of

technical, scientific, practical and empirical
knowledge for the invention, design, development,
construction, maintenance and optimization of all
types of technologies, machines, structures, systems,
tools, etc.
Systems engineering is responsible for developing
applications or programs (software) based on
international standards and current technologies on
computers, microprocessors and that are very useful to
the world.
What is a system?

It is a set of organized and related parts or

elements that interact with each other to
achieve a common goal.
Systems engineering allows the study and
understanding of reality with the purpose of
implementing and optimizing complex systems.
It is the technological application of systems
theory to engineering efforts, adopting in all
this work the systemic paradigm.
Main activities

Programming
Design
Software development, create new applications
Manage networks and information systems
Optimize the data managed by a company
Research to create software and hardware in a
company or organization
Design and maintain websites
What systems engineers
do NOT do

A misconception has been created that leads people

interested in this career to desist from studying it because
they confuse them with technicians.
A systems engineer is NOT the person who fixes broken
computers or mobile devices, they do NOT install
applications (Adobe, photoshop, antivirus, etc.).
They do NOT do computer maintenance (formatting,
installing operating systems, etc).
DO NOT HACK INTO ACCOUNTS OR SOCIAL
NETWORKS
What is programming for?
To be able to manipulate data: If I have a list of
users of an application with a programming
language I can simply take each element of that
list and show it in a page (it is a way to process
data).
We can also take data from numbers, add those
numbers or do any other operation.
With programming we can give instructions to a
computer (a computer is made of hardware and
you can control that hardware by
programming).
Conclusions
Software is not attached to a single type of industry,
there is software everywhere, for example: for
livestock, aerospace, oil and fossil fuel industry,
medicine, food delivery, social
networking/entertainment, video games, etc.
Computers, algorithms and code are simply a means to
solve a problem and can be of any type.
A programmer or systems engineer is a person who
from nothing can make their dreams come true or
someone else's dreams REALITY.
