3 INTRODUCTION
 Organic waste is any material that is biodegradable and comes from either a
plant or an animal. Biodegradable waste is organic material that can be
broken into carbon dioxide, methane or simple organic molecules.
 Examples of organic waste include green waste, food waste, food-soiled
paper, non-hazardous wood waste, green waste, and pruning waste.
 According to the latest report the MSW(Municipal solid Waste) generated
in AP is 6898TPD and collected waste is 6829TPD, but the treated MSW is
1133TPD and landfilled is 205TPD.
 As we observed that very less percent of solid waste is treated and most of
the solid waste is landfilled.
4 Effects due to accumulation solid waste

 Greenhouse Gas Emissions

 Groundwater Pollution
 Air Pollution
 Land Use
 Waste Reduction
5  Organic matter recycling is an important part of sustainable agriculture
and gardening practices, as it reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers and
helps to build healthy, resilient soils that can support plant growth over the
long term.
 Soil organic carbon tends to be concentrated in the topsoil. Topsoil ranges
from 0.5% to 3.0% organic carbon for most upland soils.
 Soils with less than 0.5% organic C are mostly limited to desert areas.
 Soils containing greater than 12–18% organic carbon are generally
classified as organic soils.
 Our main aim is to convert the most of the solid waste into organic matter
and add it to soil to increase the organic percent of the soil.
6 Collection of Organic Waste

 We want to know how much organic waste generating in our locality.

 we selected 10 households of different livelihoods of people.
 We had calculated the average amount of organic waste generated per person per day.

It is represented by per capita generation..

Weight of biowaste generated at household

number of persons × number of generation days
7 Table1:- The average per capita generation (PCG) of 10 households

S.no Household No.of persons Organic waste generated

grams/day
1 A 5 975
2 B 4 630
3 C 4 820
4 D 3 590
5 E 6 1100
6 F 3 430
7 G 4 550
8 H 5 820
9 I 4 620
10 J 4 380
8
 Total organic waste generated per day = 6348 grams
 Total no of persons = 42

6348
PCG = = 151.14 grams/per/day
42

 From the above results we calculated the average amount of organic waste generated in
Madhurawada(20.44 Km^2).
• Total population = 85431
• Total generated solid waste in Madhurawada = 85431 x 151.14 = 12.91tons/day.
Recycling
9
 Recycling organic matter is an effective way to increase soil fertility.

 The collected organic matter is decomposed using different methods.

 The decomposed organic matter added to the soil , which releases nutrients, such as
nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, that are essential for plant growth.
 The specific amount of fertility increase due to the addition of organic matter will
depend on the specific circumstances, but generally, the more organic matter that is
added to soil, the greater chance to improvement in soil fertility.
 It is recommended that at least 2-3% of organic matter be present in soil for optimal
plant growth and soil health.
 To determine the enhancement of soil fertility before and after adding organic
compost , by sending the soil sample to the lab for analysis.

Collection of soil
 Location :- Kommadhi village

 Soil :- Light black soil

 Crop :- Banana

 Depth :- 1-1.5 Feet

 No.of samples :- 3

 Weight of sample :- 1 kg

13 Composting using microbes

 Daily Dump Compost Microbes is an effective

and safe compost accelerator that makes
composting faster.
 It reduces stench because it creates air spaces.
 This is the most economical and fast
decomposing process.
 The most economical and easy method of
composting by aerobic composting method.
14 Future Scope

 Composting of 1 kg organic matter by using compost microbes.

 The composted organic matter should be mixed in soil at a depth of
at least 6 inches.
 The soil need to be test again to know the enhancement of nutrients.
 Comparing the results with of soil sample before and after adding of
organic matter.
 Calculate the required amount of organic matter for certain area of
soil.
