MOD NEW BUILDING

WORKSHOP
PRE CONCRETE WORK
CHECKING FORMWORK BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETE
 CHECK THE BEAM & SLAB
LEVELS AFTER REINFORCEMENT
WORKS.

FORMWORK SHOULD BE
UNIFORM THICKNESS AND IN
RIGHT ANGLE.
SLAB CONCRETE LAVEL MARKING

 Mark concrete finish levels on

column reinforcement to ensure
proper levels in concreting.
CHECKING FORMWORK BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETE
Check Whether OTS and ducts are in
plumb with below ground floor opening

 Check and ensure plywood joints
should not gaps
CHECKING FORMWORK BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETE

 CHECK THE ALIGNMENT OF OUTER

BEAMS USING THREAD LINE AND
GIVE EXTRA SUPPORT IF REQUIRED
CHECKING SUPPORT BEFORE SLAB CONCRETE

 The support props should be

placed vertically
 Check whether all the props are
tightened.
 The support props should be
placed every 600mm interval.
COLUMN REINFORCEMENT BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETE
 Ensure all column rebars have
minimum lapping length above the slab
finish level.
 Check column to column rebars
measurement with gridlines and adjust
as required.
 Column reinforcement should be 90
degree vertical position.
COLUMN REINFORCEMENT BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETE

 ENSURE ALL DEAD MORTAR IS

REMOVED FROM COLUMN REBAR
PRIOR TO START.

PROVIDE MASTER RING FOR ALL

COLUMNS AT THE BASE LEVEL
COVER BLOCKS

Check whether all beam and slab

reinforcement have proper cover.
 Check and ensure cover block at
minimum 800mm once with zig-zag
pattern
 If any damaged cover block found
should changed immediately
CHAIRS FOR SLAB

 CHECK AND ENSURE CHAIRS PLACE

AT MINIMUM OF 1METER INTERVALS
TO MAINTAIN THE TOP
REINFORCEMENT AT TOP

ENSURE CHAIR SPACING

BETWEEN TWO MESHES OF
SLAB TOP AND BOTTOM.
CHECKLIST BEFORE SLAB CONCRETE

CHECK AND ENSURE SLAB

REINFORCEMENT SPACING

CHECK SLAB REINFORCEMENT

ALIGNMENT AND SHOULD
CORRECT IMPROPER
REINFORCEMENT.
CHECKLIST BEFORE SLAB CONCRETE
 AFTER COMPLETING THE SLAB TOP
REINFORCEMENTS, CLEAN AND
BELOW AWAY THE LOOSE MATERIALS
AND DUST WITH AN AIR BLOWER.
 CHECK AND ENSURE EXTRA BINDING
WIRES ARE REMOVED.
 ENSURE FULL CLEANING IS DONE
ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING
CHECK AND ENSURE CONDUITS
SPACING BETWEEN 2 CONDUITS TO
PREVENT CONGESTION
ENSURE THE CONDUITS ARE
PLACED ABOVE THE BOTTOM MAT.
CHECK AND ENSURE PLUMBING
PIPE POINT AS PER DRAWING AND
MEASUREMENT SHOULD BE
CHECKED
CONCRETE PIPELINE

PROPER ACCESS MUST BE MADE FOR

PIPE FIXING LOCATION.

STAND NEED TO PROVIDE FROM

CONCRETE PUMP UP TO THE POINT OF
PLACING CONCRETE

SE & PE NEED EXPLAIN DETAIL PLAN

TO CONCRETE TEAM ABOUT THE
CONCRETE POUR STARTING POINT
AND ENDING POINT.
INSTRUCTION BEFORE SLAB
CONCRETING

 SE & PE need to allocate labour team for each activity(Vibration, levelling ,

placing of concrete , shear key placing etc) before starting the concrete & need
to give orientation to the labour team by SE & Site QC.
 Ensure a Mechanic and MEP technician is present in site to attend any
problems that may arise
TOOLS AND MACHINERIES
 Check whether all the equipment’s used for concreting works
properly before pouring. ( i.e. Mixer machines, Pumps,
Vibrators + needle )
 Keep standby vibrators.
 Ensure fuel arrangements for mixer machine and other
machinery.
 Mason tools ( trowel, spades and hand floats, etc )
 Gumboots + rubber gloves + safety glasses
 Keep LDPE rolls (Sathari) in site in case rain comes
 Do not over-bend the vibrator which will damage it.
CONCRETE MIX
 CLEAN THE HOPPER FIRST.
 ENSURE THE INGREDIENTS QUANTITY
BEFORE MIX OF CONCRETE ( ONE BAG OF
CEMENT + 2 BAG OF SAND + 3 BAG OF
AGGREGATE )
 PLACE THE COARSE AGGREGATE FIRST
IN THE HOPPER FOLLOWED BY SAND,
CEMENT, WATER AND ADMIXTURE.
 ADD THE CORRECT QUANTITY OF WATER
IN THE DRUM USING A BUCKET
 THE PERIOD OF MIXING IN THE
ROTATING DRUM SHOULD BE 1-2
MINUTES
VIBRATION METHODOLOGY

 Needle should be inserted quickly

and removed slowly
 Always insert the vibrator vertically
 Inserting it sideways may lead to
the needle getting stuck between
two mats and get damaged
VIBRATION METHODOLOGY

 Vibrator needle has a radius of

influence
 The radius of vibration of the vibrator is
10 times of the dia of the needle (if 60
mm needle used radius of vibration is
600mm)
 Do not vibrate one area for more than
10 seconds
CHECKS DURING CONCRETING

 Ensure that concrete is quickly displaced and distributed.

 Avoid piling of concrete in one area as there might not be sufficient support
below.
 Ensure proper vibration as mention in the above slides throughout the concrete
(especially in column junctions and perimeters.
 Continuously check the thickness of the concrete on slabs with steel gauges.
 Frequent check of bulging shall be ensured.
 After the initial setting of concrete, provide sprinkle curing on the concrete
surface.
INSTRUCTION OF POST CONCRETE

 For slabs, the method of curing is ponding

 Ensure arrangements for mortar bands
and ponding within 24 hours
 Maintain ponding for minimum 7 days
 Use hessian cloth (gunny bags) and place
water on it to prolong the curing.
