•A stoppage is an unintentional interruption in the
Lesson I operational cycle of a gun, which stops the gun from

 A malfunction is a failure of a gun or ammunition to

To take control of a loaded gun from a shooter, the RSO
should approach from the side in which:
Lesson I 1.Will provide the most control; announce presence to the

5.Determine the stoppage, clear it, and unload the gun.
6.Tell the shooter what went wrong and how to prevent it from
