What is a Constitution?

• It is set of rules and principles that helps to


govern an institute or the country.
• Constitution is the supreme law of the land
• It shows the relationship between the
citizens and government.
• It is the expression of aspiration of the
people(citizens).
Why do we Need a Constitution?

• It generates a trust among the citizens .


• It specifies how government will be
constituted and what kind of govt .
• It works as the source of power .
• Limit the misuse of powers.
• It save us from ourself .
• It provide rights and duties .

• Federalism: In India, we have governments at


three levels-Centre ,State and Local levels.
• Local Self Government got constitutional
status in 1992.
