DRUG USE

■ Due to its neurochemical action, it also produces an adaptation of the central

nervous system and as a consequence negative reinforcement appears, that is,
a negative stimulus that tries to be abolished by the user.

■ Examples of this type of reinforcers are withdrawal syndrome and craving (very
intense desire for consumption), which can also determine an increase in the
frequency of consumption or an increase in dose.
■ The use of drugs can condition altered behaviors, to a greater or lesser degree,
that entail risks for the user himself or for third parties due to the neurobiological
affectation of memory, learning, judgment, decision-making, that is, behavioral
self-control. This is why the stigmatization of drug users is so strong in society..
