History of AI
• In 1950 English
mathematician Alan Turing
wrote a landmark paper
titled “Computing
Machinery and Intelligence”
that asked the question:
“Can machines think?”.
•  Further work came out of a
1956 workshop at
Dartmouth sponsored by
John McCarthy. In the
proposal for that workshop,
he coined the phrase a
“study of Artificial
Intelligence”
What is Artificial Intelligence?
• Artificial Intelligence is the development of
computer systems that are able to perform
tasks that would require human intelligence.
• Examples of these tasks are, speech
recognition , decision-making, translation
between languages, etc.
Why AI is needed?
The most important purpose of A.I. is
to reduce human casualties in:
➔ Car Accidents
➔ Natural Disasters
Or to just make everyday life easier by
helping with tasks
such as:
➔ Cleaning
➔ Shopping
➔ Transportation, UBER, OLA, Rapido.
Domains of AI
• AI, machine learning, and Deep Learning are
interconnected.
• Machine Learning- teaches machines to learn and take
decision by feeding the data.
• Deep Learning- makes use of neural network, where it
gets the data of human structure and functions.
• Natural Language Processing- teaches human
language to AI, to interact with humans.
• Object detection- to improve their perception
towards coming incidents.
Types of AI
Weak AI or Artificial Narrow
Intelligence
• Machines with weak Artificial
Intelligence are made to
respond to specific situations,
but can not think for
themselves.
• Limitations Are there.
• Examples: Visual or Voice
Assistant-ALEXA, etc; face
recognition, self driving cars,
The social humanoid, Sophia,
etc.
Types of AI
Strong AI or Artificial
General Intelligence
• A machine with strong A.I.
is able to think and act
just like a human. It is able
to learn from experiences.
• Examples: AI Chess,
Solving a puzzle, beyond
mathematical equation,
etc.
Real Life Examples of AI
• Self-driving Cars.
• Voice Assistant.
• Virtual Reality
Games.
• Recommendation of
our Interest- Social
Media- Facebook,
Twitter, Youtube, etc.
• Shopping Apps-
Amazon, Facebook,
etc.
PROS/CONS
Advantages Disadvantages

Future scope
Beyond negotiation, Moore says CMU is betting
several other AI areas are going to be hugely
important in the near future.
• Self Driving Cars.
• Improved Medical Care & Treatment.
• Open up doors to future explorations, etc.

Conclusion
• Finally we can say that
the Artificial Intelligence
(AI) is the intelligence of
machines and the branch
of Computer Science that
aims to create it.
• The Tech Tycoon, Elon
Musk said, “AI is a
fundamental risk to the
existence of human
civilization.”
