Time Management for

Principals
Student: Candace Jordan

• How will goals manage your activities?

Essentially we have our bigger goals such as our vision statement and mission statement, however
those bigger goals flow into smaller goals. Each year, our leadership team will meet and form pathways
to meeting these goals. These pathways will also include how to build about a better climate and culture
within the school system. We can decide on our biggest deficit in reaching our mini goals and our larger
mission and vision statement and start there with mini-pathway goals.
• How will you use your time to model and promote the school’s mission, vision, and core values? (ASIL 1.7)

Once our main goal is established based on our pathways to bulir our climate and culture and achieve
our mission and vision statement, we will delegate responsabilities from each leadership team member
to incorporate in their leading tasks. For example, the reading coach will work on implementing their
part with their reading teachers. The Math coach will work on implementing their part with their math
teachers. The lead sped teacher will do the same and so forth. I will have monthly plc and data meetings
to follow the progress. Once the goals are met, then we can move on to a different pathway that may be
hindering us from achieving our larger goals of mission statement and revamp for a new strategy to
keep progressing towards our goals.
• How will you protect teachers’ and other staff members’ work and learning from disruption? (ASIL 9.5)

I will ensure all of my teachers are trained in classroom management and behavior management. As a
school we can come up with a system to help hold students accoutnatable for their positive behaviors
they are learning. This will be a team effort. An example might be. Each child has so many chances
before being sent to the office. These chances will include remediation and behavioral therapy with the
teacher or behavior specialist at the school. This way we hope to improve the psychological competency
of each child and their empathy. Hopefully this well improve the disruptions of the students. If a child is
sent to the office a certain given amount of times, then teh consequences will be unanimous ( within
reason and according to the handbook guidelines).Every teacher and child will be aware of these
implements in place.
• How will you protect teachers’ and other staff members’ work and learning from disruption? (ASIL 9.5) (continued)

Also, at my school I will implement protective teaching time. This will allow for teachers to not be
interrupted by while teaching their core classes. There will be a sign to be placed outside the classroom
that says this is protective teaching time, no disruptions, along with a schedule for others to see when it
is okay to come back.
Share how technology usage can enhance practical approaches to planning and to improve the quality and efficiency of
operations and management. (ASIL 9.6

My teachers will share a drive between one another and upload ideas about each standard and lesson
they are working on. A pacing guide will also be included in this drive, and it will be a working document
taht will be added to as they go along. In the summer we will meet to plan our pacing based on the
standards, and we will meet again at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. At the end meeting, we
will discuss what worked well, and what we might alter.
Behaviors can be time consuming as well.

I also wanted to add that after interviewing principals for this class, they said the most time consuming
distraction on campus was behavior. Implementing a system in place will help, but also being extremely
orgainized will help too. Having a roster of each student, with check marks, and reasons sen to the
office, having parental permission about the types of consequences and so forth on there for each child,
as well as a contact number, can really help when dealing with students. Just grab the grade level roster
you need with the above information, and you can go from there. It is also great documentation.
