TASK 1
Q1: Tell me about a famous place in your

country.

Q2: What did you do last night?

Q3: Please tell me how you traveled here

today.
Q1: Tell me about a famous place in your country

One of the destinations that I am into/enjoy the most is the

capital city of Vietnam- Ha Noi. There is no particular places I
consider the prettiest. To me, Hanoi is an unforgettable part in
my memory with ancient temples, old towns, crowded streets
and hotspitable human. Besides, it is famous not only because
it is the capital city, but also because it is deemed as the center
of culture, history, economy and industry. Such a fabulous city,
that any tourists should come here once in their lives.
Q3: Please tell me how you travelled here today ?

Today I came here by grab - a kind of taxi at Vietnam. This

Grab system is widespread all over my country, it not only
drives passengers to their desired destinations, but also ships
food and things. It takes me only 15 minutes to get to here,
moreover, it is also very cost-effective, while the prize of gas
is increasingly rising at the moment.

How often do you watch films ?
( TASK 2)

I am a film buff and I spend time for film on a

daily/weekly basis. I am into watching romantic movies
the most, because they are thought-provoking, which are
shown through emotional love affairs.
Q1: I like to sit near the screen when I go to the cinema. I never drink or eat anything
during the film. What about you?
Actually, I am just the opposite. I usually choose middle seats in rows G and H because I feel
most comfortable sitting there. I'm fond of popcorn at the cinema, so I always buy a coke and
a popcorn to eat while watching films.

Q2: I don't like watching old black-and-white. They are boring. I prefer modern films,
which do you prefer, and why?

We are of the same mind. The world has changed and so has the cinema. Modern movies
make me feel more real. They have vibrant colors, live sounds, drastic action, and dynamic
montage. That's why I prefer new movies to the old and outdated ones.

Q3: Some people say we don't need cinemas anymore. We can watch everything on TV
or online at home. What do you think about this?

I don't see it that way. Seeing a movie in a theater provides some obvious advantages over
watching movies at home. First of all, there's a better presentation, large screen and better
sound. Besides, it's fun to enjoy a movie without the interruption of life at home.
You are a member of the Cinema Club. You received this email trom the club's manager.
Dear Members,
As you know our weekly film shows are very popular. However, we have had a
number of complaints about people using their mobile phones during the film. We
have started asking people to turn off their phones before the film starts, but this
hasn't solved the problem. We are thinking of banning mobile phones from our
cinema in the future and would be interested to hear your view on this. Do you have
any other suggestions?
The Manager
Q1: Write an email to your friend, who is also a member of the club. Tell your friend
how you feel and what suggestions you will make and why. Write about 50 words.
Recommended time: 10 minutes.
Q2: Write an email to the manager. Tell the manager what suggestions you will
make and why. Write 120-150 words.
Recommended time: 20 minutes
TASK 4.1
Hi Nam,

How is it going?

Have you received the latest notice from our club manager?

I think we should have a stricter policy on phone usage in our cinema. Besides, staff should
check regularly to detect and punish people using phone during the film.

What do you think?

Drop me a line when you can.

All the best,

Celine
TASK 4.2
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Celine and I have been a club member since 2019.
I am writing this email to give my suggestions regarding the issue of using the phone during the movie.
Personally, I feel very uncomfortable when someone is talking or using the phone while watching a movie.
The noise and light from the phone made it impossible for me to focus on the film. The reminder does not
affect. I think it would be better if our club has a strict no phones policy. If someone intentionally violates
it, they will be kicked out of the theater, and no refund will be given. Staff needs to go for regular check-ups
to deal with people using the phone. I believe that if we take tougher measures, we will catch the problem
and get it taken care of.
I look forward to receiving your response at your earliest convenience if my recommendations are
acceptable.
Yours faithfully,
Celine

Family at the cinema
TASK 2: Describe what you see in the
picture
TASK 2: Describe what you see in the
picture
The picture depicts/shows the scenery at the
cinema .

There are many people coming to the cinema

including a family, a couple and many
individuals. They are all wearing casual clothes.
These people are attentively watching the film
and eating popcorns with coke .

I guess the film seems to be a comedy

as smiles are written on everyone’s
face.
TASK 2: Talk about one time when you
laugh out loud
The last time I laughed out loud was yesterday.

Normally, I don’t usually laugh. But I could not stop laughing when I hung out with
my friend. Yesterday we had made an appointment to go for a drive around West Lake
and after that we found some cafe to sit and chill out. Whenever we went together, we
have been bosom friends for years. We was so compatible that looking at others’ faces
could easily make us laugh.

I appreciate every moment that I had them besides. They have made my life more
positive.
TASK 2: Do you think people at different
countries laugh at different things?
I don’t agree with this idea/ I don’t think so.

In my opinion, laugh is not defined by different countries, but it relies/depends on

various people and their purposes. Every person has diverse humor perception and this
explains for why people laugh at different things. There are many reasons to laugh, for
example: watching a series of comedies, chatting with best friends and so on.
TASK 3: Describe these 2 pictures
TASK 3: Describe these 2 pictures
The two pictures depict 2 different shopping destinations.
Look at the first picture, I can see there is an old man standing at the counter of a small
store. I guess he is around 60 years old. He has white hair and he is wearing a blue shirt and
pink apron. In front of him is a scale. He seems to be very focused. Maybe he is a careful
cashier.
In contrast, the second picture shows us a big supermarket, where there is a couple
going shopping together. The man is holding a cart while the woman is picking up some stuff.
In the background of the picture, I can see there are many stands containing various kinds of
goods as well. The couple seem to have a great shopping time.
TASK 3: What kind of people will go to those
● places?
In my opinion, I believe small stores are more suitable for middle-aged people
and the elderly because they don’t have to struggle with a lot of choices on plenty of
stands. Moreover, many old people also like bargaining, which they can only do when
shopping in small stores or flea markets.
● On the other hands, young people are always big fans of supermarkets and malls
because they want to have a variety of products to pick out the best items that meet
their needs.
● Moreover, supermarkets nowadays provide customers with many modern payment
methods, which help create a better customer experience for youngsters.
TASK 3: Which of the two places do you like to go
shopping
To be honest, I usually go to the supermarket rather than a store. The
main reason is that I can find almost everything I need in the supermarket
including food, vegetables, and household items. Vegetables, meat, and fish
are fresh. The items here are diverse in type and price, so I have many
choices. Besides, the supermarket near my house has a snack bar, so I can
have a snack when I feel hungry. I think it is very convenient.

TASK
4
1. Describe a time when you got lost.
2. How you felt when you got lost?
3. What do people usually do when they get lost?

1. To the best of my recollection, I remember the last time I got lost/ lost my way was 2 years ago when I
was on a hands-on experience trip at Cuc Phuong national park. I was given the task to collect woods for
burning the fire, so I had to go deep inside the forest to gather them. After 15 minutes snooping around, I
realized that I didn’t remember the way to our camping site and there was no network or wifi there. Then
I tried to calm down, I recognized the footprints on the ground. I retraced them and luckily I found the
road back.
2. At first I was in panic but after that I tried to calm down and asked myself what should I do at that time.
I was very confused. Finally, when I found the way back, I was head over heels with excitement.
3. There are several ways for people to get out of the situation of getting lost. First of all, I think they
should stay calm all the time and try their best to not be panic. Moreover, they should open their phones
to see if internet or network is available. In case not, they can try to retrace their steps or look for
someone by yelling out.

Music club
Task 2 Talk about the last time you listened to a good song
- It was yesterday and it calls Sugar from Maroon 5
- I listen to music everyday because I am a music buff
- It help me to relax/release stress and heal my mental health

Task 3 When do you listen to music? Why?

I often listen to music on a daily basis whenever I have spare time or even
when I am doing my work. Because music is a placebo for our health as
well as a mean to release stress.
I have a ten-year-old son and I want my son learn to play instrument,
but he doesn’t want. What can I do to change his mind ?
In my opinion, you should tell him the benefits of playing instruments such
as:.... Furthermore, you can also learn to play it with your child.
Why do you think music is an important part of different cultures in
the world?
- A way to celebrate and uphold/preserve cultural traditions
- Connect people in a country
Dear Members,
As you know we often organize musical performance at our club in the evening.
Unfortunately, there have been complaints from residents from the surrounding area.
If we have nothing to do with this situation, maybe we have to stop all of the musical
shows. I want to know how do you think about this problem and what can we do with
this problem? I am writing this email to ask for the suggestions from our club. Please
send your ideas through email.
The Manager

TASK 4.1
Hi Nam,

How is it going?

Have you received the latest notice from our club manager?

I think we should change the places to organise these musical shows. Besides, staff should also
control the volume of the performances in order to not bother anyone .

TASK 4.2
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Amadine and I have been a club member since 2019.
I am writing this email to give my suggestions regarding the issue of our club.
Personally, I would be very annoyed when having noise around. Especially in the evening, when the whole
family wants to spend time on gathering and steering away from the hustle and bustle of life, so this can
explain for the reason why they want peaceful atmosphere at home.
First of all, I reckon that we should change the places to organise these events, as our performances require a
room with good soundproofing. Otherwise, we need to reconstruct/rebuild the recent site by soundproofing
materials. Moreover, our club’s management department should guarantee that our daily meeting does not
affect the surrounding residents and should also always be ready to receive any comment in order to
enhance the quality/foster the best quality.
I look forward to receiving your response at your earliest convenience if my recommendations are
acceptable.
Yours faithfully,
Amadine
