Speaking Part 4

Your happiest childhood memory

Well, as i can remember, i was around 6 years old, and we were at a
holdiday with my family. We stayed at a holiday house for 5 days in
Balantonfüred.I remember, there was a swimming pool in the garden,
and me and my brother loved to play in the water. There are videos,
photos of us swimming, playing and even dancing in the pool. We
watched those videos back a lot of times already but we can never get
bored of them. I remember, I wanted to change my swimsuit to a bikini,
and i was shouting to my mother who was in the kitchen making coffee,
to help me with changing into a bikini. She came outside and she started
laughing at how I was struggling to get out of my wet swimsuit. But of
course she came over and helped me, then she brang me my bikini so i
could swim in it.After i changed, i was happy again and continued to play
in the water for hours.
Following questions:
What is your earliest childhood memory?
I’ve been thinking about this recently, and one memory came into my
mind.I was around 4 years old, and we were at a holiday in Veszprém.My
father, my brother and i were on our way to the Zoo.We were walking
ont he sideway when I saw an ice cream shop.I loved ice cream, so i
started shouting to my father to let me have an ice cream. I remember
him smiling at me and then he grabbed my and my brothers hand, we
crossed the street and then he bought us ice cream.
What was your most important posession? Any toys?
Through all the years of my childhood, the most important thing was a
scarf. It was a pink scarf, I couldn’t sleep without it. I was bringing it with
me everywhere i went.I loved it because it was made from a really soft
material and i loved playing with it. To this day, i have it, however i don’t
sleep or play with it anymore, its just in one of the cupboards next to
every other scarf.
Who did you play with when you were a child?
-I used to play with my neighboors. Our families were really good friends,
we often went over to eachother to have lunch or dinner together. We
had a rule, that during the summer holiday, we always went to play in
the park and even in the playground together after lunch.
What kind of child were you?
-I was a really hysterical girl. I cried over every little thing, i wanted things
to go by the way i want them to be.Howvere i was really kind and helpful
aswell. Luckily, i grew out of this hysterical side of me and now i’m calm
and relaxed most of the time.I think the kindness and the helpfulness
stayed with me.

Changes in your country’s educational system in the last 10 years

10 years ago, we didn’t have this much of electronic technology, so
teaching was different. Nowadays, teachers use powerpoint
presentations to teach, they show interesting videos, photos on the
internet. In the past, this couldn’t happen because of the lack of
ecxperience in modern technology.10 years ago, teachers used to write
on the board, give out printet papers to show something
interesting. Now, they just search it up ont he internet, or write the
lessons material on a powerpoint presentation.Another thing is, that the
students’ learning habbits have changed too. In the past, the students
had to make their own notes for the class in an excercise book. Now,
either teachers give out the presentations that they made, and the
students only have to make a copy or take notes from that, or the
students work on laptops or on some other electronic device. In my
opinion, the present educational system is better, it is easier and more
comfortable for me.
Following questions:
What modern technology is used in schools?
-I guess a lot of teachers use online presentations to teach and they show
video sor photos that are connected tot he topic. In some schools,
students don’t have to bring books or excercise books to school with
themself, they just bring a laptop and study on that.
Would you consider studying abroad?
-Personally, i would love to study in a different country.I guess it has a lot
of benefits if you live in a different country while you are still a
student. For instance, you can easily learn a new language in school
because everyone speaks in that language, so you have to use it aswell.I
would love to find out how it is to study and live abroad.
How difficult it is to get into university in your country?
-I guess it is a general difficulty to get into a university in Hungary. Of
course the hardness of it mostly depends on what tipe of university you
want to study at, For example, getting into a medical unyversity is really
hard. You need really high scores, and if thats not enough, it costs a lot of
money

Pros and cons of living in a big city

Firstly, to start of with the advantages of living in a big city, i would say
that it is great to have a lot of places to go for entertainment. When you
and your friends want tod o something together, in a big city there are
several choises to choose from. For example,Going bowling, going
shopping together can be really fun and it is easy to do because of the
number of possibilities. If you live in a small village, you may not have
these opportunities, just something like going for a walk or eating ice
cream. However, on the other hand, living in a nig city has disadvantages
aswell. It can be difficult to get to the other side of the city quickly, and if
your are in a hurry, than you can easily be late.In my opinion, it is more
dangerous to live in a big city because there are more crimes that in the
villages.Overall, i think it is better to live in a big city because i spend a lot
of time with my friends and we often have problems with finding places
to go.If we would live in a big city, we would for instance, go swimming
together for sure.
Following questions:
What are the major problems in your city?
-In my wiew, Esztergom is not a big city, so we don’t really have that
much of opportunities for entertainment. There are some shops, parks
and sights that we can visit, but they are boring after a long time of living
here. Me and my friends often don’t know where to go together,
because we don’t have any big shopping centres, cinemas or theaters
What do you think should be done to improve living conditions in cities?
-In my opinion, there should be more shopping areas around the city, not
just in the city centre. A lot of people don’t have cars, and if they live far
away from the city centre, it is difficult for them to get tot he shops. Also,
there should be more cleaning around the city. Most of the parks are
really dirty and there is rubbist everywhere.Of course, this wouldn’t
happen if the people would pay more attention to taking care of the
environment.

What can be done to reduce the amount of pollution in your city?

-Firstly, people should pay more attention to taking care of the
environment. We should look after the parks by not throwing rubbish
away in the grass.Secondly, we should use our cars less. When we go tot
he shop that is two streets away, we should either walk or go by
bike.Cars pollute a lot of contamination which can be prenevted by using
our cars less
How would you describe the atmosphere of your city?
-I would say that Esztergom is cleaner than most of the cities in
Hungary.Of course, there are places where there is a lot of dirt, these places
are not cleaned very often. But overall, in my opinion Esztergom is a beautiful
city, especially around the Basilica.
