10 Commandments of

traffic
KEEP RIGHT

 A motor vehicle driver must always drive to the right, except when passing another
vehicle moving in the same direction at a safe distance to the left. The only exception
to this rule is a roadway that is part of a commercial or residential district and contains
two or more lanes for one-way traffic.
 RA 4136, Section 39, as amended. Drivers of slow-moving cars must drive to the right
and drivers of fast-moving cars to the left on highways with two or more lanes for
traffic travelling in one direction. When an emergency vehicle approaches, the non-
emergency vehicle must move to the right without delay to allow the latter to pass.

You must surrender to emergency vehicles, pedestrians, trains, vehicles with the right of
way, heavy vehicles in front of you, oncoming traffic, traffic in your direction,
transportation with velocity, straight traffic, and traffic signals.

 An ambulance on emergency call
 Vehicle with wounded or sick person for emergency treatment.
 AFP/PNP vehicles on official time in use of riot, insurrection, rebellion or invasion
 Vehicles in pursuit of a criminal including a law enforcer overtaking of pursuing a traffic violence
 A police or fire department vehicle on call.
PROHIBITED PARKING

 On crosswalk or pedestrian lane


 Within 6 meters of the intersection of curb lines
 Within 4 meters of the drive-way entrance of any fire station, hospitals, clinic and
others
 Within 4 meters of a fire hydrant
 In front of a private driveway
 Double parking or on the roadside of any vehicle stopped or parked
IF IN DOUBT, DO NOT OVERTAKE

 Many traffic accidents are the result of dangerous overtaking attempts. These incidents
frequently entailed poor judgment, negligence, and recklessness
Things to consider before overtaking:
 In order to safely overtake, make sure the overtaking lane is visible and free of
oncoming traffic far enough in advance.
 When a lane is clear, move at your own risk to overtake and pass the other car safely at
a distance to the side of the one you've just passed.
BUS STOP RULE

 Be at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. If no one is at the
bus stop, the driver will depart.
 Always walk to the bus stop. Never run.
 Stop and look left, right and then left again if you must cross the street.
 Respect private property.
 While at the bus stop, wait quietly in a safe place well away from the road. Do not run
and play while waiting.
 Smoking is not permitted at the bus stop.
 Do not litter.
 When the bus approaches, stand away from the curb, and line up away from the street
without crowding or pushing.

 Keep the intersection and lanes in opposition open. No
overtaking is allowed while traffic is backed up, moving
slowly, or stopped. The vehicles in a construction should
merge in opposite directions.

 Stay off the road except while crossing at a crosswalk. At the bus or jeep stop, wait,
board, and exit.
