Where is it location?

The Portuguese Republic, is a


state in Southern Europe
founded in 1143 with a total area
of ​92,212 km2. The continental
part of the country is located in
the southwest of the Iberian
Peninsula, and borders on the
north and east with Spain, and in
the west and south it is washed
by the Atlantic Ocean.
Population

 Portugal currently has 10,3 million


inhabitants.

 Currently, up to 90% of the country's


population are Catholics. Most of them
follow the Latin rite.

 The Portuguese people appreciate the


rest, do not like to rush and live for
today, they are distinguished by
simplicity and good nature.
Capital city of Portugal

 Lisbon is the capital and main port


of Portugal, as well as the largest
city in the country. It is located on
the southwestern coast of the
about 15 kilometers from the
Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon is usually
divided into the old and the new
city.
Traditional food

 "bacalhao a bras" - fried pieces of


salted cod with potatoes, onions
and eggs.
 "robola" - fried wolf perch.
 "caldeirada" - fish soup-puree.
 "lapas" - fried clams.
 "crab croquettes".
 "crab paste".
National costumes

Portuguese people usually


wear national costumes for
“Fado”-traditional dance.
Interesting facts:

 The Portuguese capital of Lisbon is the


informative center of European cities, as
well as one of the oldest post cities in
the world.

 The famous fortified wine "Port" is


produced in Portugal.

 At the end of the 15th century, the


Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama
managed to find a sea route from
Europe to India, which was a turning
point in history.
