Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that involves the
recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of people through force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit. It is an international crime that affects all countries, regardless of their development level. According to the International Labour Organization, the estimated number of people in forced labour, including trafficking, is 21 million. The victims are mostly women and children, and the perpetrators are often organized crime networks. Human Trafficking ▪ : Human trafficking is an extremely serious crime and a violation of human rights. The victims are often tricked, threatened or forced into exploitative and dangerous situations. They may be promised work, a better life, or even marriage, only to find themselves in a world of violence and abuse. Human traffickers view their victims as nothing more than commodities to be bought and sold for profit, and this crime has severe consequences for all involved. Governments around the world are working to tackle this scourge, but much more needs to be done to ensure that victims have the protection and support they need. It is a form of human rights abuse which includes debt bondage, deprivation of liberty, and lack of control over their own freedom. AI is being used to help combat this issue by providing powerful tools to identify victims at risk, analyze patterns of trafficking activity, and develop strategies to disrupt the traffickers and protect potential victims. ▪ Trafficking can involve both sexual and labor exploitation. Sexual exploitation refers to situations where individuals are forced, coerced, or deceived into engaging in commercial sex acts such as prostitution, pornography, or sexual performances. This can involve physical, emotional, and psychological abuse, and victims may be subject to violence, threats, and intimidation. ▪ Human Trafficking the 3rd largest international crime industry (others illegal crimes are drugs and arms trafficking). ▪ As per report, it creates a profit of $32 billion every year and $15.5 billion is made in industrialized countries. Modern Slavery ▪ Modern slavery is a violation of human rights that happens when an individual or group of individuals is forced to work or provide services against their will through the use of violence, intimidation, deception, or other forms of coercion. It is an extreme form of exploitation and involves the denial of freedom, wages, and basic human rights. Victims of modern slavery are often lured into situations and are unable to escape due to threats of violence and debt bondage, meaning they must continue to work to pay off debts that they have no hope of ever repaying. ▪ “We were only there to work. women, and children of all genders. Victims are often lured with false promises of a better life and then subjected to physical, emotional, or sexual violence and exploitation. It is a heinous crime that must be stopped with strengthened awareness, law enforcement, and victim support services. Force Labour ▪ Forced labor is a type of exploitation that involves victims being compelled to work long hours, often in harsh and dangerous conditions, while deprived of their freedom and choice. It has been widely condemned by governments and international bodies due to its extreme human rights violations. Forced labor strips workers of their right to free will and can lead to severe physical and psychological suffering. Domestic Servitude ▪ Involuntary domestic servitude is a form of human trafficking characterized by the exploitation of individuals in a private residence, typically through forced labor and or/sexual exploitation. This form of trafficking is particularly concerning as victims are often isolated and vulnerable due to cultural, economic, and legal reasons. Victims may not be aware of their rights, lack resources to seek help, and lack access to support services or formal legal processes. Furthermore, perpetrators use psychological, physical, and other forms of coercion to force victims into compliance. Despite the severity of these issues, domestic servitude holds a low public profile, making it difficult for victims to come forward, to seek help, or to successfully exit their situations. ▪ It is a crime in which a domestic worker is work as a prisoner, he is abused and kept underpay. Organ Harvesting ▪ Trafficking in humans for the purpose of using their organs, in particular kidneys, is an abhorrent act that must be stopped. The illegal organ trade likely affects tens of thousands of people around the world each year, and the most vulnerable among us—including the poor, marginalized and those without access to medical treatment—are particularly targeted by traffickers. To combat this crime, governments and law enforcement must increase collaboration to better identify and prosecute buyers and sellers, while public health and civil society organizations should continue to spread awareness of the risks and dangers associated with organ trafficking. Child Soldiering ▪ Child soldiering is a grave violation of human rights, which involves the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict. Such recruitment is often done through coercion, deception, or force and is associated with labor and/or sexual exploitation. The impact of child soldiering on affected children and their communities is devastating and long-term, and all efforts must be made to eradicate this practice. ▪ Under international law, it is illegal to use any person under the age of 15 in armed conflict and any individual found guilty of doing so can be held accountable. All parties involved in a conflict must ensure that they are not unlawfully recruiting or using children as soldiers. Human Trafficking in Pakistan Trafficking of Children ▪ In Pakistan , Boys and girls that are poor or kidnapped to work in organised or illegal, begging and domestic servitude, prostitution, and in agriculture in labouring or illegal labour agents charge and with fake promises of decent work for their children and then they are exploited and used to forced labour in domestic servitude. ▪ Government of Pakistan must investigate any reported incidents of child soldier recruitment and prosecution and ensure appropriate accountability mechanisms are established in order to prevent any further unlawful recruitment. Moreover, international organizations such as the United Nations should provide support to countries in implementing measures to eradicate the recruitment and use of child soldiers. Abuse ▪ Pakistani migrants, particularly women, are in high risk of becoming victims of labour trafficking due to false job offers and exorbitant fees charged by illegal labour agents. Migrant labourers often find themselves in involuntary servitude or debt bondage, facing restrictions on their movement, nonpayment of wages, threats, and physical or sexual abuse from employers abroad. ▪ There is an urgent need for governments, international organizations, and other actors to address the issues of labour trafficking of Pakistani migrants. Measures should be taken to strengthen existing anti-trafficking laws, ensure effective enforcement, and identify and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. Furthermore, awareness campaigns should be implemented to educate potential victims about the risks associated with illegal labour agents and the potential consequences of entering into forced labour situations. Finally, legal frameworks should be put in place to provide protection and support for victims, including the right to access justice and seek compensation. Prevention ▪ The Pakistani government is making working to prevent human trafficking. The Punjab provincial government is working on the implementation of its $1.4 million mission for the elimination of labour in brick kilns. Now, this project and nearly 6000 labours, they get computerised national identification cards. In addition, they are in collaboration with the government national database and registration authority. It has also provided one lakh 140, 000 dollars in no interest loans to help the labours in getting them free from depth and established 60 on site schools which will educated over 1500 children of brick kiln labours. Protection ▪ The government of Pakistan made some achievments in its efforts to protect victims of human trafficking. The government continue to lack adequate procedures and resources for helping the victims in identifying trafficking related to vulnerable persons with home. They contact all the victims especially child labourers, woman and children in prostitution acts and agriculture and Brick kiln workers.
