Introduction
• Today we are going to talk about the Centennial bridge.
• The Centennial Bridge is the second major road crossing
of the Panama Canal.
• The name of the bridge is due to the centenary of
Panama.
• Since its inauguration in 2004, it became the second
permanent bridge to cross the canal.
• And now, some important things that we need to now
about the bridge.

• Until 1962, the Bridge of the Americas was the only bridge that existed over the
Panama Canal.
• We are going to talk about some important things that we need to now about
the bridge.
• Its name is due to the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the
separation of Colombia and Panama in 1904.
• The Centennial bridge is located 15 km north of the Bridge of the Americas.
• It is supported by two 184 m high towers.
• The bridge has a total length of 1,052 m and a height from the water to the
bridge of 80 m.
• Its construction began in 2002 and ended in 2004 and its construction value was
120 million dollars and it was not until 2005 that it began to be used.

Conclusion

• It was built to improve the traffic of the Bridge of the Americas and to
replace the route of the Pan-American Highway.

• The Bridge of the Americas has a capacity for 30,000 vehicles per day,
but currently 45,000 cars pass through it daily, while the Centennial
Bridge has a capacity for 45,000 cars per day and is only used by
15,000.

• And that it is important because it connects the rest of the country


with Panama City, allowing the entry of food.
