WHOLE AND PARTIAL BACKUP

Whole database backup

Partial backup
–Datafile - Oracle stores data logically in tablespaces and physically in datafiles. Each tablespace in an
Oracle database consists of one or more files called datafiles
–Control File - The database control file is a small binary file necessary for the database to start and
operate successfully.

CONSISTENT AND INCONSISTENT BACKUP

Consistent backup & Inconsistent backup - This means that the files in the
backup contain all the data taken from a same point in time. Unlike an
inconsistent backup, a consistent whole database backup does not require
recovery after it is restored.
