The Worm
By: Ralph Bergengren

When the Earth is turned in spring
The worms are fat as anything.

And birds come flying all around
To eat the worms right off the ground.

They like just as much as I

Like bread and milk and apple pie.
And once, when I was very young
I put a worm right on my tongue.

I didn’t like the taste a bit
And so, I didn’t swallow it.

But oh, it makes my mother squirm
Because she thinks I ate the worm.

Trees
BY JOYCE KILMER

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree
What are those
rhyming words in the
poem?

prest breast
day pray
lain rain
me tree
wear hair
