EASTERN VISAYAS
Eastern Visayas is an administrative region in the
Philippines, designated as Region VIII. It consists of
three main islands, Samar, Leyte and Biliran. The
region has six provinces, one independent city and
one highly urbanized city[2] namely, Biliran, Leyte,
Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern
Leyte, Ormoc and Tacloban. The highly urbanized city
of Tacloban is the sole regional center. These
provinces and cities occupy the easternmost islands of
the Visayas group of islands.

Biliran
Biliran, officially the Province of Biliran, is an island
province in the Philippines located in the Eastern
Visayas region (Region VIII). Biliran is one of the
country's smallest and newest provinces. Formerly a
sub-province of Leyte, it became an independent
province in 1992.
Biliran is famous or known for Ulan-Ulan Falls and
Sambawan Island.

The province is home to the stunning Kalanggaman
Island and its white powdery sand beach, the longest
bridge in the country, and a historical World War II
site. Aside from these, Leyte is also a top destination

Northern Samar is a province in the Philippines
located in the Eastern Visayas Region. Its capital is
Catarman. Northern Samar is famous for its natural
rock formations found in Biri Island and white silky
sand beaches in San Jose and Lavezares.

Homonhon Island off the coast of Guiuan, the
province's southern-most town, facing both the Pacific
Ocean and the Leyte Gulf where Magellan first landed.

Southern Leyte
Southern Leyte forms an important part of the inter-
island transportation system of the country, with
ferries transporting people and goods between Liloan
and Surigao del Norte in Mindanao. The province is
well known for its quality abaca products and is the
country's major producer of abaca fiber.

Tacloban
Tacloban is the largest city and distributing centre in
the eastern Visayan Islands (Leyte and Samar) group.
A port since 1874, it has a long deepwater wharf, a
bulk petroleum depot, and an airport. Hemp, copra,
and lumber are exported, and commercial fishing is
important.
