Anthropology Museum
The Museum was established in 1970 by Dr. Hubert I.
Reynolds, an American missionary member of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and former
Anthropology professor in Silliman University, to house the
collection of the Cultural Research Center that started in
1964. The exhibits are rare and priceless collections of
ethnological and archaeological artifacts which dates back
as early as 500-200 B.C.

The museum was formerly housed at the University’s

oldest building, Silliman Hall, for more than four decades
and was transferred to a much sturdier location at the
second floor of Hibbard Hall in 2015.
National Museum Dumaguete

The new regional museum features rich cultural and

natural heritage of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, and
the Central Visayas Region, showcasing its terrestrial
and marine biodiversity, architectural heritage, and
artifacts and relics.

The National Museum of Natural History houses 12

permanent galleries that exhibit the rich biological
and geological diversity of the Philippines. It
includes creatively curated displays of botanical,
zoological, and geological specimens that represent
our unique natural history.
Dr. Absin's Christmas House

The Christmas House in Dumaguete is one of

the most beautiful holiday hot spots in Negros
Oriental. It is also one of the most historic and
most visited spots during the holidays. Dr. Rico
Absin, an anesthesiologist, is the current
owner of the house like a museum. Every year
during the Christmas season, he would
decorate his house and garden with some of
the most galore ornaments, lights,
decorations, and so on and so forth. People
from all over the province would visit the
house and admire the display. Each year with a
slightly different theme, and always better
than the year before. Everyone enjoys the
cheerful Christmas spirit the house brings
every year.
