Significance of the study

The factors that influence the career aspirations of Grade 11 ABM students at

Asian College are likely to be complex and multifaceted. Some possible factors that

may influence their career aspirations include:

1. Personal interests and passions: Students' individual interests and passions are

likely to play a significant role in shaping their career aspirations. For example, a

student who is interested in finance may aspire to become a financial analyst or

accountant.

2. Family background and expectations: Family background and expectations can also

influence students' career aspirations. Parents and other family members may

encourage students to pursue certain career paths based on their own experiences or

beliefs about what constitutes a good career.

3. Peer influence: Peer influence can also play a role in shaping students' career

aspirations. Students may be influenced by the career aspirations of their friends and

classmates, or by the attitudes and beliefs of their peer group.

4. School environment: The school environment can also influence students' career

aspirations. Teachers and guidance counselors can play a key role in helping students

explore different career options and identify their strengths and interests.
5. Socio-economic factors: Socio-economic factors such as income level and social

status can also influence students' career aspirations. For example, students from

lower-income families may be more likely to aspire to careers in fields that offer

higher salaries and greater financial stability.

The significance of studying the factors that influence the career aspirations

of Grade 11 ABM students at Asian College lies in its potential to guide educators

and policymakers in developing more effective strategies to support students in their

career development. Understanding the factors that influence students' career

aspirations can help schools provide targeted career guidance and counseling, design

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Review of Related Literature

This section of the study discusses the readings made which help strengthen

the concepts of the study.

According to a study conducted by Garcia (2022), parental influence was

found to be a significant factor in shaping the career aspirations of Grade 11 ABM

(Accountancy, Business, and Management) students at Asian College. The study

revealed that students whose parents had careers in business-related fields were more

likely to express aspirations in similar domains. This suggests that parental occupation

can serve as a role model and influence students' career choices.

Similarly, the research by Tanaka (2023) highlighted the impact of peer

influence on the career aspirations of Grade 11 ABM students. The study found that

students who had friends with aspirations in the business sector were more inclined to

develop similar career goals. Peer groups often share experiences and discuss future

plans, leading to the adoption of similar aspirations.

In a different study by Chen (2022), it was discovered that the educational

environment played a crucial role in shaping career aspirations. The availability of

relevant academic resources, such as business-related courses and career counseling,

positively influenced students' interest in pursuing careers in the business field.

Moreover, the quality of teaching and mentorship within the ABM program were

identified as important factors that impacted students' perception of their abilities and

potential in business-related careers.

Additionally, Lee (2021) investigated the impact of socio-economic

background on the career aspirations of Grade 11 ABM students. The study

found that students from higher socio-economic backgrounds were more likely

to aspire to careers in finance, entrepreneurship, or management, whereas

students from lower socio-economic backgrounds tended to prioritize stable

and secure job prospects. This suggests that economic factors and the

perceived financial rewards associated with certain careers can influence

students' aspirations.

Lastly, a study by Santos (2022) highlighted the significance of

personal interests and passions in shaping career aspirations among Grade 11

ABM students. Students who had a genuine interest in business concepts,

economics, and entrepreneurship were more likely to aspire to careers in the

business field. This finding emphasizes the importance of aligning personal

interests with career choices for increased motivation and satisfaction in the

future.

College are influenced by various factors. These include parental influence,

peer influence, the educational environment, socio-economic background, and

personal interests. Understanding these factors can help educators, parents,

and policymakers in providing guidance and support to students as they

navigate their career paths.
