Work,energy

Aim and objectives:

6.1..a) Give examples of energy in different forms, its conversion and
conservation, and apply the principle of conservation of energy to
simple examples

6.2. a) Understand the concept of work in terms of the product of a
force and displacement in the direction of the force

 b) Calculate the work done in a number of situations including the
work done by a gas that is expanding against a constant external
pressure: W = pΔV

workdone

 Work can be defined as transfer of energy. In physics we say that work is done
on an object when you transfer energy to that object. If one object transfers
(gives) energy to a second object, then the first object does work on the
second object.
Work is done when a force moves the object in the
direction of the force and is given by the product of
the force and the distance moved in the direction.
Energy

 Energy can be defined as the capacity for doing work.

The law of conservation of

energy states that the total energy of an isolated
system remains constant; it is said to be conserved over
time.
