INTRODUCTION TO PUBERTY
 Puberty is the particular time in life when a boy or a girl
becomes sexually mature.
 Beginning of puberty-the average age of a girl to begin
puberty is 11
PSYCHOSOMATIC CHANGES DURING
PUBERTY
Physical changes in a girl during puberty

 Breasts continue to grow and becomes fuller


 Around two years after beginning of puberty girls Usually
have their first period
 Pubic hair become courser and curlier
 Under arm hair begins to grow
 Some girls also have hair in in other parts of body such as
their top lip and this is completely normal
Psychological changes during puberty

 Child may have strong emotions that they have never


experienced before
 To feel confused scared angry for no reason
WHAT IS MENSTRUAL CYCLE ?
It is a group of cyclical changes that happens in a girl. During

this period of menstrual fluid consisting of blood mucus and


uterine lining is eliminated through the vaginal opening it
lasts between 5 to 7 days.
PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME

These are the group of the symptoms that occurs during the

menstrual cycle of a girl

 Abdominal cramps or pain.


 Pimples on face are back or other areas of body.
 Tender for painful breasts.
 Fatigue or Tiredness.
 Bloating or fullness of the stomach.
 Bowel issues like nausea loose tools constipation.
 Headache and mood swings like depression irritability and anxiety.
MANAGEMENT OF PREMENSTRUAL
SYNDROME
Following are some of the steps to be followed

 Exercise daily, engage yourself in exercises such as

brisk walk, jogging, running at least 5 days in a week. It

relaxes your muscles and improve your overall health.


FOOD HABITS DURING MENSTRUAL

 During the periods smaller meals frequently and reduction

in Salt intake can ease the pain

 Take calcium rich food like dairy products nuts and green

leafy vegetables.

 Healthy foods like whole grain, green leafy vegetables, fresh

fruits, bowls of salad can benefit you by not only releving

symptoms but also maintaining healthy weight.


MANAGEMENT OF STRESS DURING THE MENSTRUAL
CYCLE

 Getting adequate sleep can help in managing stress.. deep

relaxation techniques like yoga, Pranayama, SuryaNamaskar

etc... will reduce the stress.

Every girl must have the idea to use the pad during the period..
 Stick the pad in your underwear using the sticky strip on its
back
 Change your pad every few h r when it is soaked with the
blood
DISPOSAL OF USED PADS
It is important to have the knowledge of disposal of used pads
to keep our environment safe and clean
 Wrap the used pad in a wrapper or news paper tightly and put
them in a dustbin
HOW TO CLEAN THE PRIVATE PARTS AFTER URINATION/
DEFECATION
 It is important that you wipe front to back as wiping in the
opposite direction may spread bacteria.
