Origin
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
appeared as a diagnostic category in the
third edition of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-III) in 1980, when anxiety neurosis
was split into GAD and panic disorder.
developed by Drs. Robert L. Spitzer, Janet
B.W. Williams, Kurt Kroenke and
colleagues
Causes
 The exact cause of GAD is not fully understood, although it's likely that a
combination of several factors plays a role. Research has suggested that these may
include: the genes you inherit from your parents. having a history of stressful or
traumatic experiences, such as domestic violence, child abuse or bullying.
Symptoms
 GAD can cause a change in your behaviour and the way you think and feel about
things, resulting in symptoms such as:
 restlessness
 a sense of dread or fear
 feeling constantly "on edge"
 difficulty concentrating
 irritability
Symptoms
 GAD can also have a number of physical symptoms, including:
 dizziness
 tiredness
 a noticeably strong, fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
 trembling or shaking
 dry mouth
 excessive sweating
 shortness of breath
 stomach ache
 feeling sick
 headache
treatment:
 The two main treatments for generalized
anxiety disorder are psychotherapy and
medications. You may benefit most from
a combination of the two. It may take
some trial and error to discover which
treatments work best for you.

had medication and psychotherapy.
Influence on your job.
 GAD has influence on your job, because its difficult to think bright if you have
anxiety. On the other side its helpfull, because its a good way of distraction.
Type of care.

and treat abnormal physical function
related to an injury, disability, or
other health condition. According to
the American Physical Therapy
Association (APTA), physical
therapists are trained and licensed
movement experts.
