Direct Current and Alternating Current

Direct current (DC) is electrical current

which flows consistently in one direction.
The current that flows in a flashlight or another
appliance running on batteries is direct current.

Alternating Current (AC) is a type of electrical

current, in which the direction of the flow of
electrons switches back and forth at regular
intervals or cycles. Current flowing in power lines
and normal household electricity that comes from
a wall outlet is alternating current.
BASIC ELECTRICAL TOOLS,
EQUIPMENT, AND THEIR USES
• Spirit level, device for establishing a horizontal plane. It consists of a
small glass tube containing alcohol or similar liquid and an air bubble;
the tube is sealed and fixed horizontally in a wooden or metallic block
or frame with a smooth lower surface. The glass tube is slightly
bowed, and adjustment to the horizontal is indicated by movement of
the bubble. The device is on a level surface when the bubble is in the
middle of the glass tube. The level’s sensitivity is proportional to the
radius of the curvature of the glass.
• What is a Level Tool Used For?
• A level is a tool used to determine whether a surface is
horizontal (level) or vertical (plumb). Without this, you
can't build a house that works well or looks good—not
to mention hang kitchen cabinets or trim out a door.
Holster
A belt with loops or slots for carrying small tools or
other equipment.
ELECTRICAL PERSONAL
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
What is personal protective equipment?
Personal protective equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE",
is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause
serious workplace injuries and illnesses.
These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with
chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other
workplace hazards. Personal protective equipment may include
items such as gloves, safety glasses and shoes, earplugs or
muffs, hard hats, respirators, or coveralls, vests and full body
suits.
Safety gloves
Safety gloves are designed to protect a worker's hands from hazards so
that they can perform their job safely. Gloves come in many different
materials that offer protection against specific dangers.
What is the uses of safety glasses?
Safety glasses are a part of Personal Protective Equipment that are worn by the
workers around their eyes for protection. Safety glasses act as a shield to protect the
eyes from any type of foreign debris that may cause irritation or injury. See also
safety goggles.
What is the use of safety shoes?
Protective footwear worn in the workplace is designed to protect the foot
from physical hazards such as falling objects, stepping on sharp objects,
heat and cold, wet and slippery surfaces, or exposure to corrosive
chemicals.
What is a hard hat called?
A hard hat is an article of personal protective clothing (PPE)
used to protect the head from falling objects, impacts from
falls, and other types of head trauma.
