Boston Massacre Site

1. The Boston Massacre had a major impact on


relations between Britain and the American
colonists.
2. It took place in March 5, 1770.
3. It was between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs,
stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers.
4. The first person that was shot and killed was a man
named Crispus Attucks.
5. The Boston Massacre site marker is located at the
intersection of State and Congress Streets in
Downtown Boston, outside of the Old State House,
a few yards away from where the Massacre took
place.
King’s Chapel Burying Ground

● Located behind King’s Chapel Church, the


burying ground, it stands in Tremont Street
across Suffolk University in Boston
● When loyalists that belonged to this church
decided to flee to Canada, the rest of the
people decided to briefly rename the Church
and Burial to Stone’s Chapel.
● Church founded in 1686 as Boston’s first
Anglican church.
● One notable person that is buried there is
William Dawes who helped Paul Revere
spread the warning to the rest of the Sons of
Liberty in Lexington ride of April 18th, 1775
Paul Revere House

● On the night of April 18th 1775, Paul Revere


grabbed his boots and coat and set off from his
home in North Square..
○ He would be accompanied by William Dawes as
they would go to warn John and Samuel Adams
● He would display his silver things and set off to
his nearby workshop as a silversmith.
● He also lived with his wife Sarah and eventually
Rachel along with each of their kids.
● Located at the old North part of Boston in Revere
Square, the Paul Revere House stands across
from the Rachel Revere Square.
Old South Meeting House

1. Old South became the center for massive public


protest meetings against British actions in colonial
Boston.Yet it was the series of meetings that
culminated on December 16, 1773
2. The old south meeting house was built in 1729
3. Philanthropist Mary Hemenway, abolitionist Wendell
Phillips, and the writers Julia Ward Howe and Ralph
Waldo Emerson led this effort.
4. The Old South Meeting House is a historic
Congregational church building located at the corner
of Milk and Washington Streets in the Downtown
Crossing area of Boston, Massachusetts.
Bunker Hill Monument

1. Despite their loss, the inexperienced colonial forces


inflicted significant casualties against the enemy,
and the battle provided them with an important
confidence boost during the Siege of Boston
2. The Battle of Bunker Hill took place On June 17, 1775
3. The militia were under the leadership of General
Putnam and Colonel Prescott, the Americans stole
out onto the Charlestown Peninsula with instructions
to establish defensive positions on the hills
overlooking Boston.
4. The Bunker Hill Monument is a monument erected at
the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston,
Massachusetts
