GRAVITATION

WHAT IS
GRAVITATION ?
• Gravitational force is a universal force and it acts
not only between two objects on the earth but also
between any two objects in the universe.
• Gravitation is a natural phenomenon by which all
things with mass or energy—including planets,
stars, galaxies, and even light—are brought
toward (or gravitate toward) one another.
LAW OF GRAVITATION
• Newton's law of universal gravitation states
that every particle attracts every other
particle in the universe with a force which is
directly proportional to the product of their
masses and inversely proportional to the
square of the distance between their centers.
•F=G m1m2/d2
GRAVITONS
• Basic particles of Gravity.
• Yet to be discovered
• In theories of quantum gravity, the graviton is the
hypothetical quantum of gravity, an elementary
particle that mediates the force of gravity.
