CONTINUOUS
WILL is used when we make
prediction based on our own
opinion/intuition/thought.
▪ I am not sure, but he will come soon.
▪ The teacher will probably give us a project next meeting.
▪ I think the Republicans will win the next election.
BE GOING TO is used
when we make prediction based on
present evidence.
▪ Look at the black cloud! It is going to rain.
▪ Mike Tyson is so focused. He is going to knock the
other guy soon.
▪ The sun is really hot. You are going to get burnt.
PRESENT SIMPLE is used
when we express a fixed / scheduled
arrangement.
▪ According to the regulation, all classes begin at 07.00.
▪ The train departs from the station at 9.
PRESENT
CONTINUOUS is used when we
express a personal and changeable
arrangement.
▪ We are having a pool party this Saturday at 9. get
yourself ready!
▪ I am afraid I can’t visit you. I am having an
appointment with the doctor this afternoon at 10.
SPECIAL USE
WILL is also used when we show
spontaneous decision(s).
▪ A: You need to take a rest. – B: Okay, I will do it.
▪ A: The phone is ringing. – B: I will pick it up.
BE GOING TO is also used
when we show intention.
PREDICTIONS ARRANGEMENTS
PART B. To express future time, put the verbs in brackets into WILL
or BE GOING TO form.
1. I hope Ben ______ (recover) from his illness sooner or later.

3. "Where are you going on holiday?" I don't know yet, maybe _______ (go)
