Ghosha Yatra : The Theme

The most famous festival of Odisha is of course the Rath Yatra / Ghosha
Yatra (Car Festival), which attracts pilgrims and visitors from all over the
world. More than 30 Lacs devotees will be gathered for this auspicious
festival in Puri.

After the holy bath of three deities on the day of Snana Purnima, they are
believed to become indisposed and are confined to a solitary abode for a
fortnight where they undergo treatment. After a rest of fifteen days on the
second day of the lunar month huge chariots are pulled by thousands of
people, irrespective of religion, caste or creed to proclaim their
universality and accessibility, to humanity at large. The Core theme
around Rath Yatra is Lords are considered as Living Deity, hence all
that pleases a normal human being is all being done for all three
deities.

 An average of 10 lakhs Footfalls per day which goes upto 15 lakhs

on the four event days.
