locating this establishment
PRODUCT DETAIL
 Different types of machine tools are used in the industrial sector depending on the job. In workshops, general
lathe, shaping, milling, drilling, grinding, slotting, etc. machine tools are used to perform various machining
operations on the job. Giving feed, changing jobs etc.

 General accuracy and high production are hindered by the following factors

 > Incompetence of the operator.

 > Complex size of job

 > Minimum tolerances maintained for job dimensions.

 > Apathy and apathy of the operator towards work.

 > Multiple different operations on the same job.

 > Bad condition of machine.

 As this master piece takes longer to produce, the number of jobs to be produced is greater. In this way, the
performance of the machine was gradually improved in many ways

 Special Features on CNC Machines

 Some changes are made to the machine parts to make the movement of all parts of the CNC machine faster and

more accurate according to the commands in the program. And similarly some more parts have to be used on the

machine. These changed and increased parts allow CNC machining to work at high speeds and feeds. Common

further modified and redundant parts are used on CNC machines.

 Advantages of CNC machine

 (1) Accurate and high production can be done in minimum time on CNC machine.

 (2) Even the unskilled workers after the first job creation and checking by the
program on the CNC machine Can redo the job.

 (3) In a typical factory, a lot of time is spent planning the job according to the job
drawing, selecting the tool, selecting the machine, and making jigs and fixtures
for the job. Since there is no need for jigs and fixtures on a CNC machine, job
production can be started quickly and thus saves time.

 (4) Some CNC machines are equipped with more than one table so that while an
operation is in progress on one table, the setting for the next job can be prepared
on another table. This saves a lot of time.
 (5) A single worker can handle more than one CNC machine at a time thus saving
on labor cost.

 (6) The accuracy of the program can be checked by graphs on the computer
screen before the job so there is no error in the work done.

 (7) The speed and feed can be accurately given according to the cutting speed of
the job material on the CNC machine, and the speed and feed can be increased or
decreased according to the need during actual machining. It increases the life of
the tool.
 Limitations of CNC machine

 1) In order to increase the efficiency of CNC machine and to achieve high precision of
work, various parts of the machine are heavily modified and many more parts have to
be used. Hence the prices of CNC machines are very high.

 2)It is very complicated to repair the machine in case of any malfunction One has to
depend on a trained person.

 3) Since the cost of CNC machine is high, the maintenance cost of the machine is also
high.

 4) CNC machine requires Air-conditioner, Voltage stabilizer Transformer.

 5) The productivity of a CNC machine depends on the knowledge of the person

 VMC Machine

 A vertical machining center is a conversion of a vertical milling machine into a

CNC machine. Vertical Face Milling, Pocket Milling, Slot Milling, Drilling,
Reaming done on Machine Center Vertical Milling Machine.

 Tapping Boring etc. A vertical machining center has a tool magazine for tools. A
variety of tools are mounted in this tool magazine.

 These tools can be used for various operations with the help of Automatic Tool
Changer (ATC) depending on the operation on the job.

 A vertical machining center uses Xaxis for logitudinal feed, Yaxis for cross feed
and Zaxis for vertical feed.

 Centrifugal Barrel Tumbler

 Centrifugal barrel finishing machines are the fastest and most cost-effective
method for deburring or polishing large quantities of metal parts at once.

 Also known as an industrial tumbler, rotary tumbler, metal parts tumbler a

centrifugal barrel tumbling machine grinds metal surfaces using a cyclical sliding
action.

 Centrifugal barrel finishing is a type of mass finishing.

 In mass finishing, loose metal parts are placed in a container, and the motion of
the container creates friction on the metal surface.

 This friction results in a cutting action on the metal surface, which can vary from
heavy grinding to fine polishing.
 Barrel Tumbler Benefits :-

 1. A centrifugal barrel parts tumbler can eliminate 95% of the handwork involved
in deburring or polishing parts by hand.

 2. This reduction of hand sorting dramatically increases production and return on

investment.

 3. Using a centrifugal barrel finisher reduces the waste and expense of having to
use a microscope to identify defects and remove burrs on each part to meet a
customer’s requirement for metal smoothness.

 4. In addition, using a centrifugal barrel finishing machine increases consistency

in quality.
Report on Manufacturing of Washer

 Purchase Order: -

 • After getting the Purchase Order and requirement designing and costing
procedure is start.

 • A Purchase order is a commercial document and first official issued by a buyer

to a seller, indicating types, quantities, and agreed prices for products or services.
It is used to control the purchasing of products or services from external suppliers.
Purchase order can be an essential parts of enterprises resource planning system
orders.
 Requirement of Customer: -

 The customer requires the specified dimension of washer with some acceptable
Tolerances.

 It should sustain a load, and prevent damage to the surface being fixed, or provide
some sort of insulation such as electrical.

 It should have axial flexibility and are used to prevent fastening or loosening due
to vibrations.

 To prevent the loss of pre-load due to brinelling after the torque is applied.
 Manufacturing: -

 Manufacturing process of a thrust washer, which comprises the steps of: stamping
of a stainless steel plate with the thickness of 0.5mm into a thrust washer shape on
a cold pressing mold of a stamping machine, finishing of an undulated 37 edge
and a semicircular stopper of a shaft sleeve, drilling and cutting of a rotating shaft
hole, removal of sharp corners and burrs formed in processing, removal of oil and
rust on the surface, and electropolishing of the surface. By adopting the
manufacturing process of the thrust washer, the manufacturing quality and
product requirements of components can be ensured.
 Inspection :-

 It utilizes the newest in inspection technology including vision , Lasers Eddy Current,
Physical Gauging, and more. Below are highlights of our washer inspection systems:

 Surface Defects

 Bent Parts

 Height

 Head Markings

 OD

 ID

 Up to +/-.0005’’ Tolerance
CONCLUSION

 Hence, I completed the internship 4 weeks at INDIAN ENGGINERING WORKS

located at D4 Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Industrial Estate, Near By Kranti Industry,
Tal. Mulshi, Pirangut, Pune-412111, Maharashtra, India. I learned the working of
CNC, VMC machine processes also learned about the different machining
process. Also learned about Quality Controlling at industry level.

 We got the knowledge of G-codes, M-codes, programming and various operations

done for a cycle.

 We learnt the way of work in an organization, the importance of being punctual,

the importance of maximum commitment, and the importance of team spirit.
 The main objective of the training was to provide an opportunity to identify,
observe and practice how engineering is applicable in the real industry.

 We have gained knowledge and experience needed to be successful in a great

engineering challenge, as in my opinion, Engineering is after all a Challenge, and
not a Job.
