 The term ‘community’ embodies the
importance of each and every member
including the disabled individuals as we have
witnessed that the existence of a community
can allow greater change amongst the people
coming from any race, culture, background
and religion. In order to bring light to the
subject, we must be able to comprehend the
dynamics of the terminology; Community.

 The role of a community towards the
disabled individual can be easily elaborated
if we emphasize on creating friendly
relationships with pure intent and
understanding. First of all — the importance
of forming a bond has hence permitted the
individuals to collaborate and empathize
with the disabled individuals which thus
automatically creates a sense of worth and
belonging
HANDICAPPED PERSON IN THE
FAMILY
 Disability places a set of extra demands or challenges on
the family system; most of these demands last for a
long time (Murphy 1982)

 Many of these challenges cut across disability type, age

of the person with the disability, and type of family in
which the person lives.

 There is the financial burden associated with getting

health, education, and social services; buying or renting
equipment and devices; making accommodations to the
home; transportation; and medications and special
food.
HANDICAPPED PERSON IN THE
FAMILY
 Disabled people are large minority groups, starved
of services and mostly ignored by society, live in
isolation, segregation, poverty, charity and even
pity.
 Disability includes blindness, low vision, leprosy-
cured, hearing impairment, loco motor disability,
mental retardation and mental illness.  Due to
discrimination they do not go to public places and
not free to get those rights which a non-disabled
person gets.  They are deprived of education and
employment.
