a. Labelling:
Wire rods tags include details such as diameter, carbon grade, weight, heat number, date of
manufacture, country of origin and Roofing Kenya tag number.
RKL tag number is in the format “consignment code/RKL coil number”.
Example FERRO 09/123. FERRO 09: Consignment code and 123: Count number on the
respective consignment.
b. Production Records:
The RKL tag number should be captured in the production logbook to completeness. E.g.,
FERRO 09/123 in the section of wire rod number.

In the production log, Complete coil number and Actual weight should be captured as
discussed.

3. PRODUCTION LOSSES
These include:
a. Wire Scrap
This is in-form of: Wire rod coil packaging material and online generated wire scrap.
Accountability:
Coil packaging and online scrap should be bundled wire rod coil wise and weighed at the
platform scale. This weight should be entered as scrap weight for the respective wire rod coil
entry in the production log.
b. Mill scale
Mill scale generation MUST be captured coil wise in the production logbook.
Formulae:
Mill Scale Weight = Wire Rod Coil weight (tag weight) - Drawn Wire (Actual weight) – Wire
Scrap (Actual weight)
