Introduction: Kinematic, link, pair, constraint motion- Definition and its classification,
types of joints, kinematic chain, Grubbler’s criteria, Mechanisms, machines and
structures, degrees of freedom, simple problems.

Fundamentals of mechanisms: Inversions: Inversions of 4 bar chain, single slider and


double slider crank chain. Pantograph, Geneva, Ratchet and Pawl mechanisms.

Straight line motion mechanisms: Peaucellier Mechanisms, Scotch Russell, Hart
