An aircraft STATUS page may be displayed on the SD to check the
state of the aircraft. A NORMAL message is displayed to indicate that the
aircraft state is normal and that there are no inoperative systems.

Let’s see what the STATUS page looks like when things are not normal,
for example, following a system failure.

The SD is used to display particular system information. In the example
shown the CRUISE page is displayed. This is the page normally seen for the
majority of the time that the aircraft is airborne. Information, that is useful
during flight, from several systems is displayed.

• THE FMA IS IN THE TOP PORTION OF PFD AND IT SHOWS THE
AUTOTHRUST, VERTICAL AND LATERAL MODES OF
AUTOPILOT AND FLIGHT DIRECTOR, APPROACH CAPABILITIES
AND ENGAGEMENT STATUS OF AP, FD AND AUTO THRUST.
• AFTER EACH MODE CHANGE, THE FMA DISPLAYS A WHITE
BOX AROUND THE NEW ANNUNCIATOR FOR 10 SECONDS.
• IN THE FIRST THREE COLUMNS, AUTO THRUST OPERATION,
VERTICAL MODES AND LATERAL MODES ARE DISPLAYED.
– THE FIRST LINE SHOWS THE ENGAGAED MODES IN GREEN OR
MAGENTA
– THE SECOND LINE SHOWS THE ARMED MODES IN BLUE OR
MAGENTA
– THE THIRD LINE DISPLAYS SOME SPECIAL MESSAGES IN RED OR
AMBER (9 SECONDS FLASHING AND THEN STEADY
– )(MAGENTA COLOUR SHOWS THAT THE MODE IS ARMED OR ENGAGED BECAUSE OF A
