Title 1:
EFFECTS OF INFLATION TO THE
CONSUMERS
Background of the study

Everyone's conduct is impacted by inflation in general. Because the price of

the same goods we bought a month ago can differ from its current price, which is
essentially the result of inflation, our decision to buy a single item will vary. The
growing cost of goods and services over time is referred to as inflation. 2018
(Amadeo, K.). Our cost of living rises as a result of inflation. Our ability to buy
some goods and services will decline when our cost of living rises since it will
make the Philippine Peso less valuable.
The Philippines' inflation rate, which gauges how quickly prices are rising,
recently hit a staggering 6.4% in August (Punongbayan, J., 2018), which is
genuinely alarming news. Not only is this sharp increase the biggest in 9.4 years,
but it also much exceeded the government's maximum prediction of 6.2% and is
well above the 4% target for 2018. Additionally, statistics reveals that this
staggering 6.4% rate is the highest in all ASEAN nations. In conjunction to this,
we may also observe that the Philippines' inflation rate was usually in the center,
but that it is now above the global average. What could possibly be the action to
be done, to at least remediate and normalize again the inflation rate in our
country?
Statement of the Problem

The general problem of the study is the effect of inflation in

the Philippines.
Specifically, the study sought to answer the following:
1.What do you think are the possible reason for the drastic
increase of inflation rate in the Philippines ?
2.What measures can be proposed on how will the government
remediate the drastic increase in the inflation rate?
Methodology

To achieve its goals, this study used a descriptive research approach.

Descriptive research, can offer a detailed analysis of the perceived factors
contributing to the rise in inflation rates in the Philippines. In order to
gain a deeper knowledge of the factors contributing to the rise in inflation
in the country, this study did not examine any particular correlations
between variables, but it did provide information about the trend and
qualities.
The method of the research was descriptive qualitative. Text data
from the interview questions was used to acquire the data.
According to Creswell (2003), qualitative research is an approach in
which the researcher frequently makes knowledge claims that are
primarily based on knowledge that was built out of experiences,
experiences from different viewpoints, or both.
Findings

From the research problems and the result of the interview, the major findings can be summarized below:
1. What do you think are the possible reason for the drastic increase of inflation rate in the
Philippines?
According to the twenty (20) questioned Fermeldy National High School employees, the
following are the perceived causes of the sharp rise in inflation rate:
a) Importation of oil, whose price is rising on the international market.
b) The importation of rice and other agricultural products;
c) the falling value of the peso against the dollar; and, finally, d) the government's Build, Build, Build
program and the implementation of TRAIN LAW.
2. Do you have any suggestion on how will the government remediate the drastic increase in
the inflation rate?
The recommendations are to: a) amend the recently passed TRAIN Law; b) expedite the
tracking of rice imports and distribution; c) pass the rice tariffication bill; and d) given that
inflation affects consumer behavior, the government and economists must win back the public's
trust.
Conclusion

In view of the foregoing, the following conclusions were draws:

1. That the perceived causes of drastic increase of inflation rate based from the interviewee are:

a. Importation of Oil and its increasing prices in the world market

b. Importation of Rice and other agricultural products

c. Decreasing value of Peso

d. Implementation of TRAIN Law and (Build, Build, Build)

2. The suggested ways to remediate the inflation rate are”

a. Implemented TRAIN Law must be amended

b. Passing of the Rice Tariffication Bill

c. Regaining peoples trust and confidence

Recommendation

In light of the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations were

drawn:

1. Since some regions are clearly responsible for the rise in inflation, the government must

enact new legislation and make other necessary reforms in order to limit the inflation

rate.

2. The government needs to act now before it's too late for all of us, regardless of the

effects of inflation—positive or negative—or how people perceive it.

3. In order for people to understand how we must deal with the rising rate of inflation in

the near future, the researcher also suggests that a future study be made in regard to this

issue.
