What do you understand by “Working Safely?”

• Take care and act safely at all times


• Not all hazards can be removed
• People to be on their guard for themselves and
their workmates
• Be aware of the hazards met at work
• Act and behave in ways appropriate for the risk
faced

How to achieve all these?


Step 1: Working Safely – Sense the hazard

Smell it – dangerous gases in the atmosphere
Feel it – unusual vibration
Taste it – ‘funny’ taste
Step 2: Working Safely – Know the hazard
Know

• Understand hazards in workplace


• Able to see the potential danger
• Not to be blind to hazards - complacent
• Treat hazards seriously and respect them
• Know who is affected (at risk)

• Support the process and set clear expectations


• Set good examples and habits
• Strive to remove hazards that can be removed
• Provide resources to work safely (not just PPE)
• Applauding when unsafe work is stopped
• Demand information on what hazards are a threat to the
workforce
• Be informed about what the workforce intends to do to keep
working safely
