and risks

HAZARD
 is a source of potential damage, harm, or
unfavorable health effects
 Electricity, chemicals, means of
transport, tools and clothing may pose as
hazards.
5
HOW CAN WE
AVOID
HAZARDS?

6
Electrical Hazard
> electricity can cause accidents such as
electrocution, explosions, and fires, which may
result in serious injuries.
Be sure to observe these safety precautions:
 Inspect wirings of all equipment before and after use.
 If electrical cords have damaged parts (e.g. exposed wires), conduct
immediate repair.
 If needed, request for the installation of outlets to minimize the use
of excessive extension cords.
 Always use safety switches.

7
Chemical Hazard
> minimize the chances of spilling liquids on
or near supplies and equipment. Designate a
safe area for storage and close containers
properly after use

Transportation Hazard
> transporting excessively heavy materials
and equipment will require mechanical
support. Never carry them with your bare
hands; use pushcarts instead.

8
Improper use of hand tools
– tools are categorized according to their
functions: cutting, boring, driving, joining,
and measuring. Knowing how to use these
tools properly will help in preventing
injuries. Tools should be taken care of to
maintain their good condition and
efficiency.

9
Clothing hazard
> in the field of operations, using your
personal protective equipment or PPE is
crucial in ensuring your well-being. Avoid
wearing loose clothing, jewelry, and other
articles that may hinder you from working
correctly and safely.

10
Workplace violence
> there are unexpected instances when
misunderstandings are blown out of
proportion, so you must establish good
communication with your co-workers to
prevent the possibility of violence.
Whenever conflicts arise, talk with
concerned parties and address the
problems immediately.
