LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEETS

Prepare Tools, Materials, and Equipment for Land Clearing

Background Information for Learners

Planting crops has a lot of activities that we know. There are series of activities before the
actual planting of crops. Your LAS provides you information about these activities &
preparatory to these activities, tools, materials and equipment is very important that it will make
the works in the field easier, more convenient and efficient.
By doing the following activities, you will be familiar and aware of the different tools, materials
and equipment use for land preparation.

Directions: Matching type Identify at least 5 digging tools and 5 farm implements use inland
preparation and their uses. However, in situation where physical appearance is not possible,

Clearing the Area for Land Preparation

Background Information for Learners

Soil tillage improves the soil structure, aeration, weed control and many more. Good tillage
depends on the depth of the plow, farm implements to be use and land topography. But given
all of these factors, cleanliness in the area cleanliness and free from debris constitutes more to
a good tillage.
You are going to do the following activities.

Learning Competency with Code

Clear the land according to prescribed methods of land preparation
(TLE_AFAACP9-12PLCR-IVa-f-21)
Remove & dispose of debris according to waste management standards
(TLE_AFAACP9-12PLCR-IVa-f-21)

Activity 1: Essay
Directions: Essay. Discuss/explain the following:
1. What are the importance of clearing before tilling the land?

Collecting Soil Samples

Background Information for Learners

The soil is very important medium in producing agricultural products. Knowing the condition
and status of the soil of the farm provides us knowledge and information that will be used to
improve and maintain soil structure, texture, fertility, soil pH etc. Through soil analysis, we
would able to identify the right amount, and right kind of fertilizer to be used. Aside from that,
it will guide crop producers on nutrient management.
By following the appropriate and recommended practices in collecting soil sample, Soil
analysis is assured accurate. Good plant nutrition program is then created & implemented.
Learning Competency with code
