Washing of denim
Denim Garment Washing Techniques
 Stone and chemical washing
 pumice stones that are soaked in sodium hypochlorite or potassium permanganate
(oxidizing agents).
 develop uniform color fading or appearance effects.

Enzyme Washing:
 enzymes have contributed to improve the environmental profile of washing process
 Laccase enzymes can be used as an alternative to chemical bleaching where the enzyme
oxidizes indigo to soluble degradation products.
  bio-stone washing
Reduced Water Washing:
 Denim cares for the environment and its operators.
 New techniques like laser, ozone, etc., which use a much smaller quantity of water, are
now changing the environmental profile of the whole washing process.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

A personal protective equipment (PPE) is a clothing or equipment designed to reduce employee exposure to
chemical, biological and physical hazards when on a worksite.

Importance of PPEs:

 Prevent unnecessary injury in the workplace

 Protect employees from excessive chemical exposure
 Prevent the spread of germs and infectious diseases
 Help businesses comply with regulatory requirements
 Improve employee productivity and efficiency
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

1) Face and Eye Protection
2) Respiratory protection
3) Skin and Body protection
 Head protection
 Body protection
 Hands protection
 Foot protection
 Fall protection
4)Hearing protection

Flow chart of ETP
What is ETP
ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) is a process design for
treating the industrial waste water for its reuse or safe
disposal to the environment.
Need of ETP
 To clean industry effluent and recycle it for further use.
ETP
 To reduce the usage of fresh/potable water in Industries.
 To cut expenditure on water procurement. • To meet the
Standards for emission or discharge of environmental
pollutants from various Industries set by the Government and
avoid hefty penalties.
 To safeguard environment against pollution and contribute in
sustainable development.
Treatment Levels of ETP

Treatment levels:

 Primary Treatment
 Secondary Treatment
 Tertiary Treatment

 Primary
Purpose: Removal of floating and settleable materials such as suspended solids and organic matter.

 Secondary
Purpose: To remove, or reduce the concentration of organic and inorganic compounds.

 Tertiary
Purpose: Final cleaning process that improves wastewater quality before it is reused, recycled or discharged to the
environment.
EFFLUENT TREATMENT SCHEME

 Screen chamber
 Collection tank
 Equalization tank
 Flash mixing
 Flocculation
 Aeration
 Clarification
 Ultrafilteraion
 Incineration
 Sludge disposal
