Magna Carta (1215)

• Magna Carta is an English Charter issued in 15Th of


June 1215, which influenced the development of
Common law and other constitutional documents ,
in later stages , such as the Us constitution and bill
of rights

Petition of Right ( 1628)

The next milestone in the development of Human Rights


was the petition of Right, produced by the English
parliament and sent to king Charles I , as a statement of
protection of Civil Rights and Liberties

Habeas Corpus

• Habeas corpus is latin for « you may have the body » ( subject to
examination). It is a writ requires a person detained by the authorities
be brought before a court of law , so that the legality of the detention
may be examined .
• It originated in English common law as a means to protect individuals
from illegal detention

The Virginia Declaration of Rights

The Virginia Declaration of Rights was drafted in 1776 to proclaim


the inherent rights of men, including the right to reform or abolish "
inadequate" government. It influenced a number of later documents,
including the United States Declaration of Independence (1776) and
the United States Bill of Rights (1789)

United States Declaration of independence

• On july 4, 1776 , the United States congress approved the declaration


of independence .
• This declaration came more than a year after the outbreak of the
American revolutionary war , and as a statement annoncing that the
thirteen ciolonies were no longer a part of the British Empire

The constitution of the USA and the Bill of Rights ( 1787)

• During the summer of 1787 , in Philadelpha yhe conqstitution of the


USA was written down , to become the fundamental law of the US
federal system of government
• It is in no doubt , the oldest written national constitution in use

Déclaration of the Rights of Man and citizen during
the French Revolution

• French revolution also called revolution of 1789 , that shook France


between 1787 and 1799
• the declaration proclaims that all citizens are guaranteed the rights of
« liberty , security , and resistance to oppression »

• The Universal declaration of Human Rights

• By 1948 , the UN ‘ new Human Rights commission has drafted the


document that became the Universal declaration of Human Rights , it
was adopted by the UN on december 10, 1948
