sides and a corner house
with one enclosed side.
• Shop at ground floor level
• Plan is mostly rectangular
with at least two stories.
• Being the most organized Muslim communities,’ daudi bohras’are widely spread all over Gujarat,
India and the world.
• In every considerable settlement of the daudi bohra houses are found to be grouped into separate
neighbourhood.
• The community organization in each settlement is known as jamat
• Parsal- one side of parsal is entirely taken up by large seat which is raised a height of 1 meter
under which is a cabinet for storage and other side is a chowk.
• Ordo and andar ni parsal(living room and its ante room)-
• Through parsal one enters a small room about 3 m wide which occupies the entire width of the
house.
• Ordo is a large room which is at least 20 m square in size even in the smallest house. ordo is
planned far deep inside to maintain the privacy and it also gets light and air from the secondary
street.
• In the analytical part, as shown in the drawing as you move inside the dwelling the privacy level
increases on each floor.
• Here the source of light is from three sides,front,back and top so the darkest part is andar ni
parsal while other rooms get enough light for the daily use purpose.
