Basic Principle of QoS Guarantee
Service traffic is composed of Assure
traffic and Burst traffic
 Assure traffic service ：
If a port will cause congestion:
　 Assure bandwidth go firstly
　 Spare bandwidth for burst traffic

CIR = PIR
Burst traffic service:
CIR < PIR Objective of QoS
…
If there is a congestion in the
network, make sure the high priority
of services pass normally.

In order to guarantee the QoS:

 All of the traffic of CIR should be pass normally.

 The spare bandwidth allocated for burst bandwidth.
 Discard the burst traffic if the bandwidth is not enough.
