INTRODUCTION
◎ By 2020, Starbucks plans to eliminate all plastic straws from their 28,000
stores. Now, how will that affect customers with a hankering for iced
coffee or tea? In lieu of straws, all cold beverages will use a recyclable,
strawless plastic lid. And for frothier drinks like Frappuccinos, which are
straw-dependent? Starbucks will offer straws (made via materials like
paper and compostable plastic)—but only by request. They estimate their
plans will eliminate more than one billion plastic straws each year.
◎ Starbucks' commitment to eliminating plastic straws is a commendable
move. By using strawless plastic lids and offering alternative options like
paper and compostable plastic straws upon request, they are catering to
customers' preferences while still prioritizing sustainability. This initiative
is estimated to eliminate over one billion plastic straws annually, making a
significant positive impact on the environment. It's inspiring to see
