 Definition:

These clauses are used to modify a noun or a pronoun. It will be formed with a relative pronoun such as:

Relative pronouns

Which / that Where


• Who:

Usage: Is used for people.

Example:

- This is the man who broke the window.

- The actor who participated in the film is French.

• Which / that:

Usage: Is used for things and animals.

Example:

- This is the cake which Mary made.

- The book that you have is mine.


• Whose:

Usage: Is used for indicate possession.

Example:

- The child whose bicycle is black has been lost.

- The girl whose bag is red is looking for you.

• Where:

Usage: Is used for places.

Example:

- This is the house where my son was born.

- I know a restaurant where the food is excellent.
