NEED FOR THE INNOVATION
• There are lot of many Inventions and Innovation happened in this modern era.

• The main reason for all these innovations is the Need of living COMFORTABLE.

• Inventions of Bicycle reduced the effort to walk all the way to the town.

• Inventions of Bike and Cars has made it more easier for Transportation.

• So Invention of Automatic Stamping Machine is to reduce the human efforts.

ABSTRACT
• Automatic, the word own states that the working of any object in this universe without
man’s interrupt or without presence of human.

• Automatic machine is used to reduce man work in every part.

• We want to study about the stamp which we have designed that contains special
characteristics so that it can be used for superior purpose.

• In today’s scenario the stamping process used in industries consumes higher cost due to
the man power and its complicated mechanism used.

• So In this project the Working is done by simple mechanisms.

INTRODUCTION TO THE THEORY
• Automatic Stamping machine is one of the possible ways to reduce the human effort.
• In day to day life , stamping is usually used like in post office , schools and colleges etc.
• For a usual stamping to be done, it takes lot of time and human efforts to complete the
job.
• It has become a routine process now a days. This process needs manual work and
consumes more time, so as to reduce this we are going to design a AUTOMATIC
STAMPING MACHINE.
• This may help to stamp seal in a quicker time and reduce waste of time.

• To overcome the lack of time and manual work we are going to design the Automatic
stamping machine with use of 24V ASMO DC GEAR MOTOR.
• To provide a low-cost solution to industries automatic stamping machine was designed
using creo.

• In automatic stamping parts used was consists of Geneva mechanism, Frame, supporting
shaft and motor, Geneva wheel and driving wheel.

• Our aim is to make the stamping machine to be used in industries. By using this machine,
we are able to stamp and punch the sheet or paper by automatic process compare to
conventional manual process which is unproductive .

LET’S INNOVATE NEW

OBJECTIVES
• To reduce the power consumption during the machining and the human effort.
• To maintain the accuracy in production.
• To development automation unit, so that machine can easily adopt in today’s
automation plant.
• This type of machine provides work practically at low cost, low maintenance, low
capital investment in less space.
• To perform the most rigid operation with high speed.
• To determine the contact behavior of Geneva mechanism using Ansys software.
• To determine the effect of loading on different materials using FEA simulation.
• To decide the overcome of traditional stamping technique into the updated automatic
stamping.
PRINCIPLE OF AUTOMATIC STAMPING MACHINE
• The principle used in Automatic Stamping Machine is based on the Geneva Mechanism.

• The Geneva Drive or Maltose Cross is a gear mechanism that translates a continuous
rotation motion an intermittent rotary motion. The rotating drive wheel has a pin that
reaches into a slot of the driven wheel advancing it by one step. The driven wheel also
has a raised circular blocking disc that locks the driven wheel in position between steps.

FABRICATION PROCESS
These are some of the steps and components we are taken to construct the Geneva mechanism. The produced Geneva
Wheel Mechanism comprised ten parts. There are two Geneva wheel components, two spherical sprockets, two shaft
pins to carry the Geneva wheel and the input shaft, a crank pin, DC Gear motor, roller, stand, nuts and bolts etc.

The Geneva wheel was constructed by considering all the design consideration . The material was then stamped with the
profile part. The plate was placed in an indexing milling machine, and the requisite dimensions, including the creation
of slots, were machined out of the profile.

CONTACT ANALYSIS
 The contact was created using target Contact Type Frictional
wizard in ANSYS software. Different
types of contacts can be produced in Friction coefficient 2
ANSYS depending on the nature of
the interaction between the target and
Contact opening stiffness 1.0
contact surfaces.

 These are divided into four Contact Formulation Lagrange Method

categories: bonded, frictionless, Augmented
rough, and frictional. In this analysis Detection method Automatic
friction coefficient is taken 0.2
between all contact surfaces. Normal Penalty stiffness 0.1
CONTA174 as contact element type
was selected and TARGE170 was
Maximum Friction stress 1.0E20
selected for creating contact.

FUTURE SCOPE

 Automatic stamping technology is expected to be positive, with increasing demand for

stamped parts in various industries, such as automotive, aerospace, and electrical and
electronics.

 By introduce belts or chain drive for automatic stamp moves with addition of sensors

 By addition of extra links, double and triple stamping is possible.

CONCLUSIONS
 We built and test out machine, it works perfectly. Thus the Automatic Stamping Machine is designed and
fabricated successfully.

 Even it is a simple mechanism ,the design is perfectly designed and manufactured for reduce human works
in various stamping applications.

 The advancements in making motion more simpler and the Equipment more compact are coming into light
consideration.

 Different mode shape analysis, transient analysis and vibration analysis can also carried out on automatic
stamping machine.
The automatic Stamping machine was created using CREO parametric, and the IGES file was exported to the ANSYS
APDL. By using ANSYS software the simulation was carried out to analyze the contact behavior of the driving wheel
and driven wheel of Geneva mechanism.

It was observed that as loading increases, stress and displacement developed in the pin of the driver wheel also increases
and maximum stress was found near the shaft of punching machine. Further contact penetration was simulated and
maximum penetration of to 0.00476 mm in case of cast iron at a load of 70 N.

Hence it can be concluded that both material and loading play a crucial role for designing a component. Hence ANSYS
software can be used for predicting the contact behavior and save time and cost for building the prototype.
