BENGALURU METRO

RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM

• Bangalore India's Garden City- is a technology hub of India, and soon it could become the Startup capital of the world. The
city is booming with startups, but so is traffic. To tackle this situation, Bangalore Metro was conceived as far in the 2000s. The
metro in Bangalore is also called Namma Metro (meaning 'Our Metro' in Kannada). Currently, two metro lines- Green and
Purple- are operational with 51 stations. The metro line connects almost the entire city. The metro connectivity is under
construction for the parts that are not connected, or a metro line is proposed. Bangalore metro carries around 2.5 lakh to 3.5
lakh rides every month.
• Bangalore metro whose name is christened as Namma Metro has been a successful model for Bangalore Metro Rail
Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Namma Metro is a major environment friendly addition to the Bangalore City as it significantly
contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions. It is the first Metro rail project in India commissioned with 750V DC Third
Rail Traction on Standard Gauge.
