•A mini-dictionary in your study that

contains important terminologies or
concepts in your paper that needs to
be defined.
WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF TERMS
IN A RESEARCH STUDY?

•refers to a section or subsection where

the author provides clear and precise
explanations of key terms, concepts, or

•It may include specific technical

terms, acronyms, jargon, or any
other terminology that might be
unfamiliar to the target audience.
BENEFITS OF HAVING DEFINITION

•It is a useful place to include

technical terms in the topic of the
research questions.
BENEFITS OF HAVING DEFINITION

•It can clarify the definition of a

term, especially if it has a different
meaning. Define the term according
to how it was used in the study.
BENEFITS OF HAVING DEFINITION

GUIDELINES ON HOW TO WRITE THE
DEFINITION OF TERMS

•Write a brief introductory statement. It shortly

describes the content of the definition of terms.
Example: The following terms are defined
conceptually and operationally to give a clear
understanding of the terms used in the study.
GUIDELINES ON HOW TO WRITE THE
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Example: In this section, the study will provide clear
and concise definitions of key terms, concepts, and
variables used throughout. The aim is to establish a
shared understanding of these terms, enabling
effective communication and facilitating a
comprehensive grasp of the study's findings.
GUIDELINES ON HOW TO WRITE THE
DEFINITION OF TERMS
