 Operating System

the computer run.
• E.g.: Windows 7,
Windows 10, Linux
 Functions of Operating System
• It manages the hardware and the software.
• It provides an interface to interact with the
computer system.
• It manages all the work related to the file
such as creation, deletion.
 User Interface
• A user interface (UI) determines how
commands are given to the computer and
how information is displayed on the screen.
Types Of Interface
• There are two types of
Interface:
1. CUI(Character User
Interface)
2. GUI(Graphical User
Interface)
 Character User Interface
• The user
interacts
with the
computer
with the help
of
commands.
 Graphical User Interface
• The user
interacts with
the computer
with the help
of buttons,
icons, buttons
etc.
 Summary
• An Operating System (OS) is defined as a system
software that makes the computer run.

• A user interface (UI) refers to the part of an
operating system, program, or device that allows
a user to enter and receive information.
