I always complain about bacterial
leaf blight, rice blast, and sheath
blight in my field. But, when I read
the varietal characteristics of rice
seeds in the PTC message, it was
made me clear to me what are the
suitable rice varieties that should
be planted in our area. I usually
harvest 100 cavans (54-56kg) per
hectare at the cost of P50,000 for
inbred rice.

I can still recall how the text
center helped me when I was so
problematic with weeds in my
field. Personally, I like what I've
learned about rice seeds and their
resistance on pests, especially
that they are prevalent in our
area.

I am thankful that there are
institutions like PhilRice who do
research to improve rice farming.
That is why through PTC I
always update myself on the
latest developments, especially
on seeds adapted to our farming
environment.
