GA 1: Problem solving
Learning outcome: Demonstrate competence to identify, formulate, analyse and solve complex engineering problems creatively and
innovatively
This outcome is assessed directly in the semester tests, assignments and case studies where the questions require formulation and analyses
of complex engineering problems.
GA 2: Application of scientific and engineering knowledge
Learning outcome: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science and engineering fundamentals and an engineering speciality to
solve complex engineering problems.
This outcome is assessed directly in the semester tests, assignments and case studies where the questions require formulation and analyses
of complex engineering problems.
GA 5. Engineering methods, skills and tools, including Information Technology
Learning outcome: Demonstrate competence to use appropriate engineering methods, skills and tools, including those based on
information technology
This outcome is assessed in the two practicals/ case studies which require the use of EXCEL software and tools to complete.
GA 7: Impact of Engineering activity
Learning outcome: Demonstrate critical awareness of the sustainability and the impact of engineering
activity on the social, industrial and physical environment
This outcome is assessed directly in the semester tests, assignments and case studies where the questions
require formulation and analyses of complex engineering problems.
GA 10: Engineering Professionalism
Learning outcome: Demonstrate critical awareness of the need to act professionally and ethically and to
exercise judgment and take responsibility within own limits of competence.
This outcome is assessed directly in the semester tests, assignments and case studies where the questions
require formulation and analyses of complex engineering problems.
GA 11: Engineering Management
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and economic
decision-making
This outcome is assessed directly in the semester tests, assignments and case studies where the questions
require formulation and analyses of complex engineering problems

TEST 1 40% A makeup test will be arranged for students who fail the assessment
opportunity test. If a student fails the makeup test, a final mark of
40% will be given regardless of your other outcome test. If a student
passes the makeup test the following equation will be used to
calculate the final assessment opportunity test mark:
Y = 0.2X + 40 (where x is the makeup test mark)
The case study project report must be completed to get your final
Case Study Project 40%
semester mark. If you fail your case study project, you will be
assigned a failing mark regardless of your other outcome marks
